These decisions are very hard to make...I was 3 months pregnant and had to terminate the pregnancy because of complications. It is really important to think about the children you do have and how much they need you...becareful and make sure you know about all the risks involved...I have heard alot of scary stories and positive one too...good luck! The hardest decision I had to make was to terminate the pregnancy and now it feels like a relief. I have 2 girls 2 and 7 and I needed to be here for them. I know how hard it is and the attachment you feel towards the fetus. I am so shocked at all the people in the same situation...yikes

hi all... I see some of us with the mirena IUD batch number.. i think we should start a letter, and action towards Berlex laboratories.. I am so tempted to call and curse them all out! i think this product has to be taken out of the market... My cousin told me yesterday that six years ago.. when she had her last child she tried to get her obgyn to insert an IUD and he refused, and told her that IUD were banned in the United States, and the government had banned them from use... YET four years later i was able to get an IUD with no problem, and two years later I am 8 weeks pregnant.. Most of what i have read most of us havnet had our IUD's over three years.. most of us 2 years.. one year..etc.. i wonder if we were the study group for Barlex laboratories.. I called them up and told them i was pregnant..and they didnt have much information.. They call me back and asked me for my doctor's name, and address ..cause they want to know the outcome of the pregnancy.. JERKS! so now i am one of their statistics!... I really want to start something against these ppl. Well i also have a question.. for the last couple of days i have been feeling this weird sensation in my v____a.. it is like something poking.. i went to the ER and they checked for infection, and all and everthing was fine.. no infection, baby was fine.. but now im feeling it again.. it is weird... like something poking in my v____a.. and it doesnt go away.. i am so fustrated.. anybody else out there with v____a pains??

Ronda, I am doing okay, still feeling pretty blah, but some days are better than others. I had 3 neg HPT's now so my my primary doctor, insists I wait now until I come back from my vacation to see if maybe it is stress. Anyway, I just a__sisted in a birth at St. Lukes in Bethlehem! I am a doula that works part time in this area. You might see some of the same team I go to for my ob/gyn care....Dr. Karounos, the midwives? I am familiar with the Women's Health Center located in Allentown at 16th! e-mail me: lilput_tat@yahoo.com

I completely agree! I think it would be a good start just to print out all of these posts, maybe and send it with a cover letter and electronic signatures? I know personal signatures would be near impossible, but that might spur something! Even those that didn't turn out pregnant, have had unususal symptoms that mimick pregnancy, could it be pregnancy has occured but then the IUD does its job, ending the preg??? I wonder if what they say about how this really works is accurate info> The say right on the manufactuerer website"...not sure how it really works, but it is believed that...." then they mention thickening of cervical mucuos and thinnning of the uterine lining, so they really DON'T know!!!! Did you also know the d__n thing (IUD in design) was invented by a dentist!? Where do we begin?

OOPS! I didn't realize i typed your name in the bar when I replied! Sorry Ethi.

I too have an IUD and I am 8 weeks pregnant Saturday. my dr said that since i can still feel the string to just leave it there and let the pregnancy progress, they would look for it after the delivery, but now I'm bleeding and they don't think it's a miscarraige but I'm still afraid can anyone who's been there give me hopeful adive? I misscarried before about 4 years ago and I honestly don't think I could handle it again!!!!! Good luck Lori everything will be fine!

I too have the Mirena IUD and have had it since my 6 week check up in 9/04. My Doc told me to check once or twice a month to make sure the string is in place. Well I went to check yesterday, it wasn't there, I made a appointment today, he couldn't find the string, brought me in to do an ultrasound to see if it went into my uterus.(Which it is in there) The look on his face when he saw a beating heart....Yes I am pregnant. 7 weeks and 1 day. I am 25 with 3 children. 8, 2, and 1. I was SHOCKED! My husband is not so happy with this Mirena company however. It sounds like this is happening to a lot of women who are putting there trusts into this little device that is suppose to be 99.9% effective.

I terminated a pregnancy in Feb 05 and got the Mirena IUD in Mar 05. I have no children but have all the symthoms I ignored in Feb. I have had three PT all negative, now taken with the first morning urine. I have cramping in my stomach. I can smell everthing which makes me quasi, again. I love coffee and once again to drink coffee turns my stomach out. I went to the gyn to get my IUD check he said its in place. And since I had light bleeding at m visit he said I was probably just gettting my period. I have not had a period since I got the IUD, but I rarely have periods so no harm to me. But here is the kicker, when I found out I pregnant in Feb 05, it was because I have spot bleeding and the dr sent me to get a transv____al to make sure it was not cyst. I am I how surprise I was when she said congrad. you are 9 weeks. I have the same spott bleeding and bod feels the same. I want to beleive I was imaging this because I have an IUD so pregnanc is not possible. WRONG. My dr did a cultrual last week based on the results he will want me to get a sonogram. I have submitted my application for grad school this fall and applied for a live-in campus job that I most desire. But if I am pregnant, I will keep it this time because God must have intend for me to have a child. Pregnant twice in one year and blindside both time. I will keep you posted in the weeks to come if I am.

Same sad story for my wife...someone said 40% misscarraige chance leaving IUD in and 60% taking it out....is this fact?....And if so are there any other known facts...doctors opinions which don't sound like hot air...or at least up front admission that modern doctors are only giving educated guesses...if this is all that can be offered fine, but let's admit it...somethings only God controls. (On a side note I would love to have that IUD out of her and in my hand to shove up her gynecologists a__s, at least he won't get a high risk pregnancy) Sorry, ladies, I just need some unemotional, factual answers along with your feelings (but keep the feelings coming cause I am definately showing my wife this page).

I woke up this morning hoping yesterdays news was all just a bad dream. Then I glanced at the ultrasound picture of my 7 week 2 day fetus. I am still in shock. I think we need to do something about this Mirena's 99.9% lie they have told to us. We put out trusts into this device so we wouldn't be in this situation we find ourselves in right now. Now all the tough decisions we are all faced with. This is not right. We need to all talk to a lawyer and find out what our rights are. Does anyone agree? I am from Minnesota....Maybe the laws aer different in different states. Please give me any feedback or support you wish. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I can't believe this is true. I honestly believed in this stupid iud my doctor convinced me in getting too bad he didn't tell me all of this before. Anyways, I've been feeling extremely tired for the past month I have a 2 year old daughter and a 1 year old son. I work full time so everyone has been convincing me it the kids and work tiring me out. Well to put my mind at ease I tried a pregnancy test on Friday and to my suprise I'm pregnant. Totally, not ready to have a baby and to deal with all the stress of the iud possibly being stuck inside of me. I'm going to see my doctor this week I truly hope everything is ok with the baby. I hope all goes well with everyone and their babies. God Bless. I'll keep u posted I appreciate the support.

dear lori i am sorry that you are going through this but to be honest the iud is more effective then then the pill and the only real way as far as i'm concerned, to control birth effectively. i am a 28 year old who has used my iud for 3 years now and the only reason i can see it has not been more popular is because pharmacutical companies don't stand to gain on a proceedure which costs about 600 dollars in a one time fee for 10 years! girls check it out you can be responsible for your s_xuallity and take control without hormones and don't let anyone scare you until you hear the facts. i am a iud owner now for 3 years, no prior children and no problems... oh yeah no pregnancy either!!!!

Amy - August 14

Well I am happy to hear that your IUD stood up to its 99.9% rating. However mine and it looks like many others have not. Thats a fact!

Hey girls and men lol.. I had my 2 week checkup the otherday . The doctor told me they got everything out with the d&c and they didnt find a piece of the iud...I hope to god its still not in there or it was a false reading on the ultrasound. She told me the iud was only 96% effective.. Now why would they say its 99 when in reality its not.. I am going to set up an app. with my gyn. Who removed it and see what the results where on the iud because they sent it off.. I am just a disapointed as you all. I hope all your pregnancies go good and you dont have to go through what I did. In the meantime I am going to try to get to the bottom of this..
