I just found out today that I miscarried for the second time now. I was supposed to be 11 1/2 weeks along but lost my baby at 7 1/2 weeks. Today was my first ultrasound and the baby's size wasn't right and there was no heartbeat. My hCG level was somewhere in the 1400's. Any advice on how to cope for the second time and if I should try right away again? We wanted this baby so bad.

I went and got tested on Friday at the hospital and got the news that I am positive yesterday. I was having cramps for the last couple of days...the kind that is like menstrual cramps. The nurse asked to me to go and have a checkup just in case since I had a previous miscarriage. They tried a ultrasound but it's too early to see any just yet. I took a blood test to measure my HCG level and the number is 153. According to the nurse she thinks that t is pretty low, based on my first day of last period she said I should be about 4 weeks pregnant but that number only shows about 2 weeks. I have to go in and take another one tomorrow to see if the levels double by that time. The nurse is trying to rule out an ectopic pregnancy. It is very hard to sit and wait and not know if the pregnancy is ok. My husband and I both want this baby very much. The nurse said that there's a possiblitiy that ther calculations are just not correct on how far along I am or that the pregnacy may just be sluggish in getting the hormones up and just needs some time. But they can't tell anything until they compare my numbers. I hope that everything is ok and that the cramping is normal due to my uterus expanding.

Happy Holidays to all! I received my results of my second HCG test and the level is now at 401. The first test was at 153 and it increased to 401, can I rule out having an ectopic pregnancy at this point since the numbers are at least doubling up? My doc is out and so I was only able to get the results but no one to actually compare my two numbers to give me a throrough explanation. I need to go in and take a 3rd one tomorrow....hopefully the numbers keeo going up. Best wishes to all!!!

Kimberly- don't listen to that nurse- 153 sounds great!!! In fact, my HCG was 134 exactly 13 days after ovulation. 46 hours later it was at 370. I think she meant that your HCG sounds like 2 weeks from conception. Which is correct.... even though you are 4 weeks from gestation. You are always 2 weeks further than the fetal age. AKA- (gestational age) So, it sounds perfect to me!!! Keep your head up and good luck!! also, congrats!!!! oh and also, have you given birth prior?? and are they putting you on any supplements like "progesterone supplements" to boost the lining of your uterus and keep it strong? I lost 3 before this one and this one I was put on progesterone supplments and I am now 21 weeks today with a healthy son. :)

Hi everyone. I tested bfp on 12/23 and my beta for 12/27 was only 83. The nurse said it was low. She then told me to come back in a week for another beta. I have sore b___sts and very tired, heartburn, etc. No bleeding and only mild occasional cramps. Does anyone think I have a chance? I was 15dpo (I think) for the 83 beta result. Thanks!!!!

Thanks Daniella! I took a 3rd test on Monday and it was 851! The nurse told me that the numbers look good and they are rising beautifully. It was such a relief to hear that. This will be my first true pregnancy. I had a miscarriage in Sept of this year. I tested positive on the Sat and started bleeding on Sun and bleed throughout the week. So far for this pregnancy my cramps have decreased but still gasy ^-^. I am having trouble drinking milk....it makes me feel very bloated and somewhat nausea so I am going to try cheese to make sure I get enough calcium. I'm not taking anything besides Nature Made Prenatal Vitamins that I bought over the counter. My first Prenatal appt is 1/13 with the prenatal clerk. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should really eat more of and not of? I've been reading alot online and trying to make sure I do everything posible to get all the nutrients my baby needs. Based on my first day of my last period 11/16, I am about 5-6 weeks pregnant. By the time I go to my appt 1/13, will they be able to see anything with the ultrasound? I am so happy and nervous at the same time!
Patti - usually ur HCG levels will double about every 48 hours or so. I tested positive last week and called the nurse immediately because I was having cramps and because I had a previous miscarriage. She aske d me to take the blood test 3 times, once on Thurs, then Sat and then on Mon. Your levels shoudl double up each time, at least that is what I was told and what my numbers also shows. Good Luck!!!

Kimberly- Email me "jarhead4me2@aol.com" and I'll give you the link to my online pregnancy journal. I have all my beta test, dr. ultrasound pics, 3D/4D ultrasound pics, belly pics and just stuff I've added on how this pregnancy is progressing. Once your HCG htis 2000 you should be able to see something in the uterus. About 6 weeks is when you should see a heart flicker and 7 weeks you should see a heartbeat. My HCG at 13dpo was 134. My HCG at 15dpo was 370. HCG one week after that was at 4467. and a week after that it was over 40,000 (That was just about 6 weeks). So, at your apt. in a couple weeks from now you should definitely see a fetal pole and strong heartbeat. I have my 5W6D ultrasound, 7W5D ultrasound (HR-166bpm), 11W1D ultrasound and 19.5 week ultrasound pics in my journal if you want to see what your should look like. :)

Patti- no one ever is 100% certain of the exact date of conception (unless IVF)... So, dont be too concerned. You may have ovulated a day or 2 (or 3, etc.) later than you thought. Yet, all in all.... even 83 around that time doesn't sound too bad. You really can't go off of one lab. You have to have a repeat 48 hours later to see if they "at least" doubled. In the very early pregnancy your HCG should double every 36 hours, then as you hit the thousands, they should double every 48 hours, then when you hit the tens of thousands, they should double every 72 hours until you hit roughly 12 weeks or so. But, once again... you have to have 2 numbers to compare. :) Goodluck!!!

I think you will have a very successful pregnancy and the reason I say so is because I have had 2 miscarriages within the last year and a half. The most recent one was 6 months ago. I am 40 years old and have never had a child. I just found out I am pregnant and you want to talk about low numbers, try this one on for size. I am just about 5 weeks and my number is 59. I know how you feel about false hope..I can feel this baby and I know its there due to how my body feels and I also know what it feels like when its not there anymore. I am trying to be very hopeful because like you I am not sure I can loose another one. The last one was the hardest because I heard the heartbeat. I think you and your baby will be fine and I wish you the best.

Ann- get on progesterone supplements. It can only help!! It helps bring your HCG up and most of all it helps keep the lining of your uterus thick for the baby. The sooner the better!! I had 3 m/cs and this one I am now 23 weeks because I got on the progesterone supplements (Crinone 8%) right away. Some dr's wont give it or test it, but trust me... it works. Its a natural supplement so it can't do any harm.. but it works with the HCG. Those hormones work together. So, if you supplment progesterone it will bring your HCG up if it isn't too late. Good luck!!

Sorry it's been a while, but here's my update. My first beta HCG at 15dpo was 83 and my second hcg at 22 dpo was 2800. I went for an u/s at 5w3d and saw a sac and a yolk. Now, Dr. wants to repeat u/s in 2 weeks. We should definitely see the baby and a heartbeat by then. THAT is when I will start to feel comfortable with this pregnancy. Ann, don't give up hope, your second number could still soar!!! Please let us know when you get your results. Good luck and God bless!

Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted. Ann-my first number was 153 and the second was 401 2 days later so don't give up hope! Keep us posted on your results. I am going to my doc appt on Friday and I should be at 8 weeks that day so hopefully I'll get to see something so that I can feel comfortable with this pregnancy.

Kimberly- makes you feel any better, my first HCG (on my current pregnancy) was at 134 (13 dpo) and the second one 2 days later came back at 370. So, your numbers sound just the same route and I am now 23 weeks pregnant with one healthy boy!!! I have a good feeling for you!! I have my 7 week 5 day ultrasound pic, my 11 week pic and my 19 week ultrasound pics if you want it, I would love to share. My Email is "Jarhead4me2@aol.com" I know my exact date of conception also, so these are dead on pics of what it should look like and it measured dead on also. :)

Wow, i'm so happy i found this site.... I went last monday for a pregnancy test and it came out positive, but with Hcg just 45. That was at 10 in the morning. Then On Tuesday night ( not even two days later) it was 69. has anyone heard of such low levels that have gone on to have normal pregnancy's? I'm really nervous cos its my first pregnancy and i REALLY want a baby. My doctor put me on 100mg of progesterone twice daily and i think i'm only 3 weeks. I have another blood test tomorrow....so scared.
