I am so glad this post is here. I am in the same boat as alot of you as well. I had started bleeding on 2/10 and thought it was my normal period though it was not as bad as normal. Continued to bleed for 12 days and decided to take an hpt which came back positive. Went to the dr. tuesday 2/22 - they decided to do the hcg blood test that day and thursday to see how the numbers were rising. I got jerked around by the dr. since yesterday and finally today talked to someone- they told me that my numbers are rising bu not enough. The Dr. told me she suspected I had a miscarriage but wants me to test again tomorrow. My levels were 87 on Tuesday and 107 on Thursday. The doc told me she thought it was odd that they were still rising especially if I had started bleeding on the 10th... So now she said it could possibly be ectopic, miscarriage, or I could surprise her and go on to have a normal pregnancy. So basically after seeing the nurse on Tuesday I know nothing and have done nothing except cry and worry. This would be me and my husband's first baby so we are both hoping and praying. But, at this point I am preparing myself for the worst. Will update tomorrow after I get results. Any feedback appreciated... Ali

Hey mandi, your numbers sound okay to me. I mean they definitely doubled once and almost twice in 3 days. I wouldn't be all that worried if I were you.

We had another ultrasound on Thursday.. still no fetal pole and still no heart beat.. also the bleed near the yolk sac looks alot bigger. I do have another one on Monday.. please everyone pray for us.. we really need it at this point. My numbers are still going up quite well.. slowing down a bit.. still having some mild cramping but still NO vag. bleeding. Waiting for some news.. good or bad and hating every second of it! How is everyone else doing?? No one has wrote for a few days.. hope everyone is ok!!

I am in same boat as alot of you. I just did IVF (after 2 ectopic pregnancies before). So we are positive on the conception date. We put two fertilized eggs in after they were 5 days old. 18 days later, they said my hcg was too low. It was 357. They wanted it over 1000. However, it was doubling an avg of every 3 days. 2 days later, they did an u/s and saw nothing. HCG was 745. It more than dbld. 2 days later another u/s. Saw nothing, but hcg at 1463. More than dbld again. They said, since they saw nothing on u/s, I should have surgery next day for a dnc and take my tubes out while they were in there, because they are partially blocked anyway and they feared this may be ectopic. I agreed, but demanded another u/s before surgery, in case the sac showed up. I kept reading that often you cant see anything on u/s till your numbers reach a certain level. So.......next day before surgery, they saw a sac. It was empty, but it was there. I just knew it....I felt it. So the surgery was cancelled and they still said it was probably a bad pregnancy. I go back in tomorrow (monday) to check again. Anyone else in this exact same boat??

Tamara, I think the doc's are a bit too quick of the mark, they need to give it time. Its well known that they only see a sac until your further on. Ask them to leave it a while.
Where is everyone?

Bonnie, you dont know how good that made me feel. Just to hear one positive thing from someone else since the doctors arent being positive. I cant believe how quick they were to want to do the dnc. I just didnt feel right about it. Maybe it is just an empty sac, if so, thats fine....but I will wait until that is final. I have read so much about other women not seeing anything on u/s, then all of a sudden, there it is. I just hope there is a baby in there....developing...slowly, but surely. I am going to be ok either way. I can just try again, but I have wanted a baby for so many years.....this is so hard on a marriage and on emotions. ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE JUST SAW AN EMPTY SAC ON 6 WEEK U/S, BUT TURNED TO BE A NORMAL PREGNANCY? I NEED HOPE!

Hi,
It helps to read others experiencing similar difficulties. Mine is a little drifferent, possibly closest to Ali's. I got my period on Feb. 10, I started taking Clomid on the 13th, Had intercourse on the 14th (Valentines day) had pretty much stopped period bleeding. On the 17th I started bleeding/spotting not sure of the difference. I need a panty liner, doesn't always come out, but is always on the toilet paper. Anyways, I took a pregnancy test on the 24th ( I had thought the bleeding a side effect of the Clomid) So on the 24th I found out I was pregnant. I was in shock. Worried I took Clomid while I was pregnant. Took my first HCG blood draw on the 24th and was at 52, the 26th was 78. I'm worried. They tell me it's too early to know anything. When can they tell if it's ectopic? As with all on this thread the not knowing, trying not to stress while keeping hope,

Hello to all---my thoughts and hopes are with each of you!!! Tamara---hang in there...I know this is so, so hard. And, waiting is awful. You definitely did the right thing. Please let us know what happens tomorrow. We are all praying for you! Elizabeth---how are you doing? I've been thining about you! TARA---how are you?!? I've been thinking about you. I'm sorry I haven't written for a while...we've actually had some internet problems...all fixed now. Please tell me how things are going... I have been thinking about you a lot. I'm not sure how I'm feeling, expecially today. I was 11 weeks on Friday. My dr. had me come in (on fri) just to hear the hearbeat. We did. I was so relieved. It was really the first time I let myself feel a little optimistic. It has been so sad...so far, not allowing myself to experience any of the fun/joy of pregnancy....thinking about names, imagining a nursery, etc. Not that I was there yet...even after Friday! BUT, I have been have a TINY bit of daily brown spotting for about a month. I just don't know what that might mean...and my dr. just blew it off. Today, I had a pretty decent amount of pink, even a little red. I do have a history of spotting during pregnancy, even during my successful pregnancies. I don't know. I think it was enough I should probably call tomorrow. Kind of weird...my m/c at 16 weeks----I heard the hearbeat at the dr. on Friday, had a little bit of spotting on Sun....went in and found out the baby was gone on Monday... ugh...

Hi all....I had the u/s this am. The sac is still there, but they still cannot see anything inside. They did a blood test (again) to check my hcg levels. They need to double every 2-3 days...so I am praying for high numbers! I will know after 2pm today.

I think I may be miscarrying. 17 dpo my hcg level was 165 and now 24 days past ovulation my hcg level is only 368. It's not doubling. I still have sore b___sts and slight pelvic discomfort as in my 1st successful pregnancy. I have no spotting but every internet site I have read suggest its not the hcg # as much as looking at if the hcg level is doubling every 2-3 days. The articles also said that if the hcg doesn't double the outcome is probably poor. But hey what about lab errors and what if our bodies don't follow the norm. There have to be exceptions. Right? Well keep me informed because it sounds like we are in the same boat. Any successful stories out there that started out with low hcg levels?

Stacy..when my hcg number was 45 a doctor told me that labs can be up to 100% different then what it really is.. it has a lot to do with who did the test and how they interpreted it. Today i was told that numbers that don't double in 2 days can also be determined a normal pregnancy because only 60% of women's numbers do double regularly. I would not yet give up hope..no spotting and no cramps is a very good sign. Keep us posted on how things go and good luck

Hello! My hCG number was 54 when I was 14DPO. Should I be concerned? I found some tables and there is that for 14 days is OK to be in a range "3 - 426", but my OBG seemed to be worried that the number is low and as I read you, it's really LOW! My OBG doesn't want me to do another blood tests, so I don't know whether I shouldn't go to the lab to check my hCG numbers again (when I'll be at 17DPO) and pay for it. I hope that my OBG won't be angry with me because of it, but I can't wait 4 or more weeks for a ultrasound! I had a missed abortion last year. The baby stopped its development at 5 weeks, I had no problems and we had no idea about it until my u/s at 10 weeks!

Stacy: I have just pa__sed 6 weeks and my levels are very low - 703 taken on Monday, I am due for another test tomorrow. Bloods last Friday showed level of 410, so they are not doubling, and I began spotting/bleeding on the weekend, which has not abated. An emergency untrasound on Monday showed nothing conclusive (I'm in a small country town in western australia, so the ultrasonographer only comes once a week, and doesn't have transv____al facilities, which makes it difficult). I am still concerned it may be ectopic, and will speak again with my Dr tomorrow. I am booked in for another ultrasound on March 14th (be 8 weeks by then) but if it is ectopic, I don't want to wait that long to find out! I'm glad I found this post, it is great to be able to share with people in the same situations. Best of luck to all.

I know what you are feeling. I am currently 2 1/2 months and my hcg levels were doing great in the begining and now at about 2 months, they stopped doubling BUT they are still going up. My progestrone level was low to begin with, I was put on the Progestrone pills but with all the research I found, I switched over to the gel suppository method. It seems as though the pill does not do much to rise the Progestrone hormone in the uterus level and the gel does.My doctor keeps having me do blood work each week, and each week its goes up, just not doubling.
good luck.
