I'm sorry about your loss, Maribel. My last pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy. I miscarried just a week after my period was due. The doctors ck my pregnancy level. It was at 12 one day then increased to 14. Later it dropped. I guess your body keeps producing the pg hormone for awhile.

Hi all.. I'm new here, looks like it's been a little while since someone's posted. Anyways, let me introduce myself. My name is Nicole, I'm 27 and from Minnesota. July 14th, my husband and I lost a son due to a placenta abruption. I was exactly 20 wks pregnant. I went into premature labor and delivered my son at home. With that pregnancy I started bleeding at 6 wks pregnant, had multiple ultrasounds, yet they couldn't see anything. On Sunday, Nov 13th, I took a HPT and it came out positive. The lines were fairly dark, but not completely dark. I went to my OB on Tuesday and they took blood to check my HCG #'s. I got my first # ystrdy which was a 7, which they say is positive. On Monday the 14th, I started having menstral like cramps and bleeding. The first thing I thought was that I was having another abruption. Today is day 4 and the bleeding has since stopped, no pain, no nothing. I went back to get another blood draw today, I should know tmrw or Mon if my #'s are going up or down. Right now, I'm scared and excited at the same time. Has anyone had #'s this low and a viable pregnancy?

Wow Laurie! Thanks for starting this and for everyone who has contributed. This will sound like an echo of many previous posts, but...
I had IU insemination on Nov.4, and did a PT this morning. The result was a light line, so I had the hcg bloodwork and spent the morning thinking about how I would be telling my husband we were having a baby. I didn't even know about low hcg levels this morning, so I when the doctor told me the levels were low - I just...went numb. I'm stuck in the 4 day waiting mode. Here's what I've taken away from everyone's experiences:
- it helps to talk about what you're going through
- I'm not alone!
I feel a lot better hearing about the different scenarios that I might expect so I feel much better prepared, but I'm still scared about the ectopic or miscarriage possibilities. Thanks again for this great forum, and I'll be sure to update.

Hi Nicole,
How far along are you? I lost a pregnancy eariler this summer...my initial hcg level was 13. I conceived through in vitro, so knew how far along I should have been. They were very cautious about our chances from the beginning, but it looked like things were doubling every two days, like they were supposed to. We got up to about 300 then it dropped to 25, then to zero shortly thereafter. Heartbreaking. That was early August. The good news is that I recovered and decided I was brave enought to try again...I'm actually having the egg extraction of my second in vitro try, tomorrow, with re-implantation scheduled for Tuesday. And we've also looked into adoption, which I'm actually kind of excited about. One way or the other, we'll be parents. I have heard of other women starting out very low and carrying to term...apparently everyone's different. The thing that really matters is that your hcg doubles every 2 days. I wish you all the best! Take care of yourself and let us know what you learn over the next few days.

Hi everyone: I just want to share a little of my experience here. I did IVF/ICSI this October, egg retrieval on Oct 26, transfer on Oct 29. I started a little brownish bleeding on Nov5, then stopped for a few days. The weekend of Nov 11, I bled heavier and color is bright red. I was scared. I had my blood test scheduled on Nov 14. In the morning of Nov 14, I found a big tissue came out of my body, size like a thumb, I took it to the hospital, did the blood test but with no hope in my mind. Nurse called me at noon says I am pregant, hcg level was 115. I just couldn't believe it. I was still bleeding a lot, lighter then a period though. I started take pearl powder as my doctor in china told me to. The pearl powder is used to comfort baby in pregnancy in china. In two days, my bleeding stopped, I went for a 2nd hcg test on Nov 18, it came out a 530. Low but it's rising. I put all my hope on now, rest at home, very careful, continue use prometrium and pearl powder.
Wish this baby will grow healthy in my body.
Wish everyone here the best luck!

Ashley, as of right now, I'm not exactly sure how far along I am. If I go by my last missed cycle I should be just a little over 5 weeks, but because of the bleeding I just had, now I'm not sure. I went on Tues for my first HCG count, got the result on Wed that it was a 7, very very low, which could mean that I either miscarried or that it's just very very early in the pregnancy. I won't know until Monday if my #'s are going up or down, and how long I am. Right now I'm just really confused, because I don't know if the bleeding was from a miscarriage or if I just got my cycle, or what the heck happened!! LOL all I know is that I want to know NOW what my #'s are. I don't want to wait until Monday!!

I need some help before I go crazy! All of you seem to have so much experience I thought I would ask. The last time I BD was Oct. 9 (DH out of town). On Oct. 15 got a very faint, but pink positive. On Oct 18 (3 days early) got what I thought was my AF. I thought, must have been a "chemical" or m/c. After about two weeks of having all the same symptoms I had with my daughter I took another test on Nov. 13, positive, started AF again on Nov. 14, only lasted 2 days (usually 7). On Nov 16, don't know why (obsession I think) took another HPT, positive. I freaked out and bought 3 other kinds and over 3 days got 9 positives faint, but definantely positive. Went for blood test on Friday. Today, Mon Nov 21 got very very faint positive. However, I am sick (cold) and I am drinking aprox 20 to 30 gla__ses of water a day, and through out the night (it helps with the cold). Is there ANY way possible this pregnancy could have survived all that? Does a faint HPT mean low hcg#'s? With my daughter I did get my first AF but not a 2nd, and my first +HPT was not until 30dpo.

Kim you really should call your OB and schedule a HCG check... and even a US to be sure there's a viable pregnancy. I got my 2nd # back tdy... and it was only an 8, I went from a 7 to an 8. At least it went up instead of down, but I'm still nervous. I have to go back on the 28th for another blood test.

Thanks Nicole. I had a blood test on Friday, they said they would have results on Monday, but when I called, they said not until today, Tuesday...Have no idea what is going on, but I will be sure to post what happens so all of you know incase it happens. I see alot of questions on here, but not very many answers. I am glad I found this site, at least it helps me understand more of what is happening.

Hi All,
I'm the one with the hCG level of 30. 4 days later it was 600 and kept going up, and now I'm just about 9 weeks! I am so happay, and so sick! I am on 200mgs of progesterone every night. I think this made all the difference.
Don't be discourages about the low hCG numbers. I lost a pregnancy earlyer this year, with low hCG's and had them again with this pregnancy. However, things seem to be going well so far.
