This site is wonderful - thank you Laurie. I have just completed my 1st IVF cycle and had my 1st pg test 11 post transfer (transfer was a 6 day blasocyst) and the HCG is 37. Dr told me I have a less than 5% chance of a viable pregnancy and I just need to wait for the miscarriage. I have to wait 4 days for another blood test and I'm at my wits end. It's nice to know I'm not alone and my prayers are will all of you.

MY PERIOD WAS 3/16/05 FOR 5 DAY IT WAS NORMAL AND THEN ON 3/28/05 I STARTED LIGHT BLEEDING WITH CRAMPS FOR 5DAY MY PG TEST WAS POS AND THE HCG LEVEL WAS 125 I WENT BACK TO THE DR'S FOR ANOTHER HCG AND IT WAS 147 COULD THIS BE AND ECTOPIC, MISCARRIAGE OR JUST AN REALIER EARLY PREGNANCY

Jackie; It is high for you to just have a period on 3/15/05. It is still really early, but did the doctor request you to come back to test it again?? Good Luck.PS Since it is not that early it will not be that high. So it is a good sign!!

Hi Laurie, I am pregnant and my hCG levels are lower than normal. After 2 weeks my test showed a level of just 23. I was told that its not so much a single value but the increase in the hCG level which should be monitored. the hCG levels have to double every 72 hrs, thats the important criterion for a normal pregnancy.I am sure you are doing fine & you will have a perfectly healthy baby! best of luck!

I had IVF done too (2nd. try) my pregnancy test was positive but the hcg levels were low, as per the doctors, I had 30 on the first test and 2 days later I had 33, the doctor asked me to stop taking the progesterone because the pregnancy is not going to survive. I don't know what to think or what to do... Any help?? - Thanks - Sara

This is for all who think their beta numbers might be low...I did IVF and had a 3 day transfer. Unfortunately I did lose the baby at 9.5 weeks due to a subchronic hemorrhage which is very rare. The baby was totally fine and growing like a weed until the tear in my placenta. Three doctors (including two specialists) told me this was a fluke and very rare. I really don't believe that my low HCG numbers contributed to my miscarriage. Hope this helps. My first pregnancy my beta numbers were... 10 dpt 3day transfer: 22 12 dpt 3 day transfer:102 14 dpt 3 day transfer: 318 16 dpt 3 day transfer: 992 I was very pregnant, so I hope that helps anyone. I am pregnant again and this time my beta numbers are 10 day 3dt: 103, 12 day 3dt: 281. So I'm hoping all works out! ~ Hope36

I now have hope that my pregnancy may make it. Here is my story: I was supposed to have AF on 03/30, and I took a pregnancy test on the 29th that had a faint line. I took another one that had a faint line, however, it was the same day so I waited to do another one. I took one on Sat. the 2nd, and the digital reading came up pregnant in about 45 seconds. Plus that was the only test that me and my husband read together. So it made even more special for me. I started spotting a little bit on Sat., and on Sun. I had some more spotting. I had a cramp so I just freaked and went to the hospital. The hospital tested my HCG level which was 264 @ 4 weeks and 3 days. The doctor stated that it was low, and to contact my OB. I went to my OB doctor on the 4th, and he said during the exam that he could tell I was pregnant. He said since my HCG levels were off the question is if the baby is alive or not. I did the beta test and my HCG level was 520, and my prog. was 15.2. She said it was not great, but it was not real bad either. They don't know exactly what is going to happen. I did have some hope since it rose up so much in 1 day. I go back on Monday the 11th to see how my levels are and if they are rising. I have been praying that everything will be ok. I must admit I am completly scared!!! I did not know anything about HCG levels with my son so I never was worried, but this one is a different story. Please add me and the baby to your prayer list that everything will be ok. If you think I have a chance, or have anything encouraging to say please please email them!!! I need all the encouraging I can get right now. I hope everyone has success in TTC, and those who have low levels are already on my prayer list. Thank you for looking at my story. Have a GREAT Day!!!

Clinging to hope!! My hcg of 37, 11 post 6 day blasocyst transfer, I was told I would lose the pregnancy and to wait 4 days for another blood test. Today, I had that test and whilst the numbers are still very low, they are now 237! The dr told me they should be in the 400s but I'm going to cling to hope that this little 'un is just a slower starter but a great finisher! I have another test in 7 days time. I'll keep you posted!!

hello ladies. I am 11 days late today and i took a urine test(4/3) and it was neg, then a blood test today(4/8) and it was neg also, but I feel pregnant and my period is no where in sight. My stomach keeps cramping and my cycles are always on time. I am suppose to go back to the doctor if my period doesn't come by next week. Could this maybe be a pregnancy and my hcg levels are just too low to detect it?

Tracy - April 11

Just wanted to let everyone know that I talked to the doctor's office, and she said that everything looks good. She said my levels caught up, and I am having an ultrasound Friday to ensure everything is ok. Best of luck to everyone, and I have been and will continue to pray for you!!!

hi, I want to tell you my story. I was pregnant and my hcg test was 9 then the 2nd test was 48 then the 3rd test was 458 then 4th test dropped to 340 then 5th test went up to 390 they told me I was having a tubal pregnancy but couldn't check cause it was to early so they gave me a shot to kill all living cells just incase. I didn't want to because there might of been a chance that it was I lost one and I dont know all I know is that I would wait next time to make sure. Dr dont know everything especiallly if they cant even see anything yet. Has anyone had this done to them if so let me know please! God Bless and good luck.

Ladies, please don't give up hope. I had ivf and became positive but with low hcgs, 23, 2dys later 25, a week later 212. All along they told me that the pregnancy was unlikey to be ongoing. After the 3rd test I went for a scan a week later, they saw the g sac, y sac and heartbeat (6wk pg) but scan showed a growth of 5wk, a wk later went bck for another scan (7wk) everything showed ok aprt from it showing an age of 6wks, this was ok though because it had grown a week in a week, a week after I went back (8wks) and it had grown to 8 wks so I was on track. They all thought originally I could have an ectopic but the scans proved them wrong. The hosp couldn't give me a conclusive answer but it looks like my embryos implanted a little later than the norm thats why hcg was low and the gestation age was a week behind. Anyway I am now nearly 10wks and everything is going fine, I have been discharged from the hosp and am now waiting to see a midwife. So please do not give up hope because miracles can happen and do ask as many questions as you can think of and don't be intimidated by the docs.

Hi. This site is great. I am pregnant with my first IVF and my counts yesterday were 700. We had an ultrasound on 4/11 and didnt' see the sac. My transfer was on 3/19. I am worried about an ectopic pregnancy though I am having no bleeding or pain. I think my levels are low for being 4 weeks/6 weeks technically. Any thoughts?

To Sam - April 14

Your post answered my prayers. I am one week behind, was 8 weeks measuring 7. I am hoping to have caught up or at least grown a week and it sounds like it is possible. Thank you so much!

Update ... inital hcg 37 at 4 weeks. Told this was not good. 4 days later it rose to 237, Dr says it's still not good. Now 7 days later the number is 4,700. I'm told I should be in the 10,000s by now and the Dr is still not convinced things will end well. I'm not sure what to think. I'm on an emotional rollercoaster and I'd just like some positive confirmation. I've not got to wait another 6-7 days for yet another (my fourth) blood test! Very confused.
