Katarinak-thank to all of you for all supportive words. Can I ask another question. Did any of you felt your fibroid in your abdomen prior surgery ? Felt like pressure ? Or should I be concerned about something else than just fibroids?

katarinak, it is not unusual to feel your fibroids..not only could I feel the extremely big one I had but I could see it..when I would lay down everything else would lay flat and I had this huge ball sticking up...these fibroids are mean..you can feel them all the time...and don't even know it..they push on your bladder and rectum and give you that bloated or full feeling..If I was a trained medical person I would have know right away that the ball sticking up out of my stomach was a fibroid..I always thought it was just my flabby tummy...boy was I wrong..so don't be alarm if you feel a hard ball in your abdomen area...take care

Hello Girls- Went to see my Peri, yesterday. Bedrest has done me well. Everything is looking good since 2 wks ago. I'm stable. Peri wants me to continue everything I was doing as far as bedrest, etc. He hopes for no more bleeds with the bedrest. I have about 9 wks left. My shower is next Sunday. Not sure why I am nervous. Being preggo is becoming more and more real each day for me. Thanks for all of the positive comments, girls.

MsMonet! I'm so happy to hear from you! Hang in there! I will pray the next nine weeks goes by real fast! Thats right take it easy..don't move a muscle unless you really need to..like going to the bathroom :) other than you stay put. I''m really really happy to hear from you..I think about you everyday...I will continue to think and pray for you and your little ones..Time really has went by fast..I can remember when I read your post you were preggos..and then with twins! WOW..you will get through this and we will be right here with you. Katrina you are welcome..I am always here trying to help anyone in our situations..don't worry too much about your surgery and your fibroid..all will be well. Those monsters are beyond terrible. They say hind sight is 20/20 and I know fully understand that expression..I sit and think about 5 years ago when I started gaining weight..but my clothes still fit except for the waist..that is when my fibroids started growing and causing my uterus to grow..I always thought I was just putting on a little weight in the belly area since I wasn't big on working out..and then when the doctor pointed out that bulge in my belly...I know realize I had noticed it before but I thought I was just bloated..I really only notices it when I was PMSing so I just figured it was due to that..things we learn as we get older.. I don't know why I'm writing about this..sometimes something just pops into my head when I'm posting and I just feel the need to share..i guess because no one else I know would be able to relate...since I put it out there..did that happen to anyone else? Everyone take care :)

Ms Monet: This is wonderful news!!!! Just 9 more weeks and you'll have your baby boy and girl (am I correct?) in your arms!!!! Have a wonderful shower next week! I'm sure many of us daydream about so many things - the birth of our babies, the shower before, the positive pregnancy test, etc. You continue to be an inspiration for all of us here on these boards! God Bless!

Hello Ladies,
It's been a while since I've posted. Just wanted to share recent updates going on w/ myself. Recently, due to trying for a few months and having no good news I spoke w/ my GYN and she decided just for safe measures I should get a HSG. In Sept. I preceded w/ this exam. Well those results came in and found that one of my tubes was straight (left) not the shape it should be & the other was totally blocked w/ scar tissue from the myo last year (wouldn't allow any fluid to pa__s through it). This meant that basically my chances of becoming prego were quite slim to none. Currently, I'm seeing a fertility specialist and in the process of scheduling yet another procedure to remove the scar tissue. This procedure will also require general anes. I'm remaining positive and prayerful even w/ news. Feeling very down, the up & down moods swings I go through has more to do w/ my disappointment w/ things than PMS.
Ladies, I have a question. How soon would fertility drugs be prescribed after my procedure? A date has been scheduled yet, because they are waiting for my first period to pa__s first before preceeding.
Katarinak, the first time I was actually able to feel my fibroids were after the baby issue when they were at their biggest.
MsMonet, you have been in my prayers for months now. GOD will bring you through this fine and with healthy angels!!

Pryncss, I'm so sorry you have to go through another procedure to get the scar tissue removed..what are they going to do with the tube that is straight..are they going to reshape it? I'm truly sorry for this. You had your surgery in July and had to wait 3 months for TTC..so you have been trying to TTC since October of 06? I'm just wondering because I have been trying for all of one month and since AF came to town..and will be in town again this cycle..I'm already thinking about going to see my doctor in Dec/Jan if I'm not pregos by then..that would be 2 months of trying :) I'm so nervous I may have scar tissue that I feel like I'm going to loose my mind...if you don't mind me asking all these questions..are there any signs of having a bloc tube/scar tissue..were you not ovulating..if you know? Sorry don't mean to be intrusive..I apologize if I am. I really do feel for you..although I don't know if I have scar tissue..I am there with you with wanting to get pregnant and thinking the worse is behind you and now you are faced with another challenge. Is surgery your only option...or surgery that requires general an? I will pray for you and just know the best is on its way to you once you get pa__s this hurdle. MSMONET...girl..how are you..I'm counting down with you.... Take Care

Pryncss1013-can I ask who did your surgery ? OBGYN or Fertility Spec? How many fibroids did you have removed ? Why you don't go straight to IVF instead of having another surgery ?

Hello, Girls. Hope all is well. I finally slept a good night, last night. Thank you so much for all of the prayers. I also pray for you guys. All is well here. No problems with fibroid. Tomorrow, I will be 25wks. Not much longer to go... JOKER-Thanks, girly! I first came to this section of the site on October 20th, 2006. My how time flies. Thanks for the inspiration! I wish you all the best. Can't wait till you get preggo! SASHA-Hey, girl. Yup, a boy and a girl! Samiya Elizabeth and Kenyatta Miles. PRYNCESS-I did IVF and both of my tubes were blocked due to a past Myo. Can you do IVF and have them to implant your eggs and hubbys sperm? I did get a Lap to remove some tissue and fibroids. This was all combined in my IVF process. The whole process took about a month and a half. I understand your moods... I went through all kinds of emotions. When I first went to the Fert. Clinic, I was so ashamed. I cried but realized everyone is there for the same reason. No one cared if I was there... Lol! Just try and be positive the whole time. You will have lots of blood tests and exams, first. Did you get HSG, yet? If not, stay calm and whatever you do... Don't look at any of the instruments. Focus on self and your baby to come. The IVF process is so quick. If you have any questions... Pls, ask. You will be fine. It's all overwhelming but I will help with anything you need, girly.

Hi everyone. Ms. Monet, you're still in my prayers. I hope the next two months just fly by! I have a question for those of you who have had the ab myo - my surgery was a month ago, and since then, I've had two periods. One was 10 days post op, so I expected it to be heavy. But I just started my second period, and its still heavy!!! DARN. Is that normal? Does it take a few cycles for the flow to lessen up?

MsMonet..I'm so happy to hear from you and know all is going well..I too hope the next 8 weeks fly by...so far I feel like November is almost over..just hang in there..are you keeping your mind occupied while on bed rest? Hopeful...I'm glad your surgery is over with and you are on your way to healing..I can't speak for everyone else but from my 1st period to my current after the MYO has been light..with few if any clots..(sorry if TMI or just plain gross..just sharing info to help :) I took Lupron before the surgery so that may explain why my 1st period was light and then my other ones were just due to the MYO being done and the fibroids not being there anymore. I would call your doc's office and ask them if this is normal for the 1st few periods to be heavy and if they will get lighter..this way you can know when to be concern..I will see if I see anything on the net for that.. Take Care everyone

Thanks ladies. I will call my doctor. I must say, after a month of healing and triumphs, I was very disappointed with this heavy flow. But hopefully, it will get better as I continue to recover. And I have to remind myself, the only reason I had the surgery was to be able to successfully carry a baby to term. Everything else (for me) is secondary. Thanks again.

Hey Ladies,
Actually, I had 10 fibroids in total, one was huge in size, (approx. 14 cm by surgery time), the surgeon motioned to my husband to show him how huge it was after I got out of surgery & a second one was about the size of a grapefruit & the others were not as alarming in size but they were all clumped together, made the surgery almost 2 hrs. longer than scheduled. My surgeon did say that scar tissue could be an issue w/ so many he had to remove and their locations.
Joker, I definitely don't think you're being intrusive, these are the same questions I too would be asking & would be grateful to have answered.
I hadn't really thought of IVF (thought I'd be fine w/ out it) until now. But I'm getting more and more convinced this may be the right decision. Right now, I'm thinking do I really want to go through another procedure and another healing period before attempting to try again? The scar removal procedure would require gen. anes., & I'm not prepared for that yet again. The Fertility specialist did mention that I could just go straight to the IVF option of instead. MsMonet this option is looking very attractive to me.
Joker, the tube that's slightly mishapen could be fixed & the one that's blocked w/ the scar tissue (right side) totally would be fixed via Laparoscopy (through the belly b___ton). And yes I do think you should proceed after 3 months (but make the app't now), it cost nothing to cancel later if good news does arise by then & you'd just be making a different type of visit anyway at that point....no need to wait 6 months before realizing there may be an issue, better to know as early as possible so you can plan accordingly & proceed w/ the next steps. Speak w/ your GYN and ask for a prescription for a HSG (Hysterosalingogram) (sp.). That exam will basically allow you GYN to see if there exist blockages in either tube or if any further fibroids may have risen. You'll receive the results back in a matter of 2 or 3 days tops. Then if necessary the next step would be an app't w/ a Infertility Specialist, if any blockages or issues requiring further inspection or treatment. My FS is located in Staten Island - Dr. Eric Knockenhauer, who also came recommended. The surgeon that perfomed my myo was Dr. Peter Dottino (a GYN surgeon at The Group for Women) at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NY, wonderful bedside manner and great reputation. Ladies sorry for being so long winded, just wanted to make sure I provide as much info. or answered all questions asked.
Healing, my first 2 menses post surgery were scary (w/minor cramping). By the 3rd cycle, I no longer even got cramps, didn't know I was getting my AF until a restroom visit & the flow was normal (which I wasn't used to after so many years. However, if you have a cause for concern, by all means call your Dr. and inquire.
We have come a long way and still we'll look forward to a year from now & be surprised & patiently awaiting upcoming births amongst this group.
Msmonet, Blessings that the next 8 weeks will fly by and soon we'll be receiving the Good News!!
Ladies thanks so much for your advise & feedback.
