Trina, I read that too. I was off birth control for a few years prior to having children. My period was shorter when I was on it. I have always had a regular cycle. I first thought well maybe because I was so small prior to having my second child. Then I lost the weigh but the period stayed longer and heavier. I joke to some friends but I believe the Dr. messed up some stuff in there. I says it is because I was so huge when I was pregnant both times, that they figured I'd never know. I'm talking about 75-100lbs weight gain. My daughter is almost 3 now. I don't have cramps but still bleed heavier, get bloated and tender b___st. I had my children 2 years a part.I don't know what happen besides TL. I've learn to cope but I was just wondering. I think I should have let my husband go ahead and do the vas. I just figured it would be eaiser for me since I had just delivered.

can you get pregnant with your tubes tied

To: Paula I went to the dr. today and my urine test came back with a faint positive and they did an iternal ultrasound but they couldn't find the baby. The dr. said i either already lost the baby, it's in my tubes, or it's still too early to see it so they took some blood to check my HCG's so they can see how high they are and i have to go back monday so they can do it again to see if they're goiong up or down so they can see if i've alreayd lost the baby. The bad thing is i've never wanted a baby more than i want this one. My boyfriend says if we lost it he wants to try to do something so we can have at least one. He loves my children very much but he wants at least one biological child together. I'll keep you posted thanks for all the advice and being there for a stranger desperate for advice and support. I feel like i've made a new friend i know you've made a new friend in me.

Jeanne, you had your tubes tie 5 years ago. How old are you if I might ask? I'm curious because I'll be 30 in a couple of weeks and I had my tubes tied almost 3 years ago and someone said the younger you are, the more your body will try and heal itself. I also read somewhere that you could become pregnant after 10 years but a lot of women are becoming pregnant well before then. I do hope you are pregnant in the uterus. Best Wishes

To Jeanna - I desperately hope that it is in your uterus, because I know what I went through losing the baby, funny thing is they still haven't found out where the baby was/is. I have to go back in a week to draw blood again to make sure my HCGs went to 0. You are in my prayers. To Trina - I never took the pill, the only birth control I used was abstinence and then condomns so I know that all my symptoms of heavy periods, severe mood swings, severe cramps, bloating, tender b___sts, etc are all caused by that dang TL. My dr didn't tell me anything about the procedure only complained that he didn't want to do it because I was only 22 at the time. So Tubal Ligation Syndrome is something that people should be told about before they consider a tubal. Best of luck to all.

I just wanted to make a commit to Toni. I don't know if it matters how old you are really for your tubes to start trying to heal, because I am 38 when I had my ectopic pregnancy just a few months ago. I think it really depends on the person and how that body reacts to it. My mother had her tubal ligation when she was in her 20's and she never got pregnant again.

Has anyone suit their doctor for becoming pregnan after a tubal ligation? My family insist tha I should suit my doctor for getting pregnant after a tubal only two months later.

To Candice - I believe before you have the operation they have you sign a form that says that you are aware that this procedure is not foolproof. Therefore you can't sue your dr. Check your medical records to see if there is a paper like this that you signed.

(update) Thank you all for you,r help but I went to the ER the other day and did a test it came up neg and they ended up doing a catscan due to the fact I had so much pain in my lower belly and found nothing wrong and yet I,m still in pain so I don,t know what was or is wrong with me maybe the test was wrong what do you thing girls poohbear4u228@aol.com email me k thanks

Momof4 - did they do a blood test or urine test in the ER??? Sometimes it doesn't show up in urine tests, but will in blood tests. Especially if it is a ectopic preg, if you are miscarriaging or have already miscarried they will not find anything on ultrasounds. That is what happened to me, except mine wasn't in the tube or in the uterus obviously since after an ultrasound showed nothing in the uterus or tube and a D&C showed no sign of a baby, I still had HCG levels high in 700s. That is when I had to take the methotrexate shot.

Momof4 - also have they done an ultrasound to check your tubes and ovaries? May not be a pregnancy but ovarian cysts. My sister had those and she said they hurt something awful.

Has anyone gotten pregnant after they had their tubes tied and burned? The Dr. doesn't think there is enough of the tube left for a reversal to work. He suggested invitro but I don't think we can afford that. Any info would help!

I had my tubes tired Nov 2nd 2002 after my third child. I am 26 now and about a week late. Reading all this is making me kinda scared but happy at the same time. Is there a certin time fram on your chances of getting pregnent again? I guess if I haven't started by next week I will take a test. Oh boy wish me luck everyone....and the best of luck to all of you.

Well here is my update so far. I went in yesterday and had my annual pap smear. Well, the doctor checked my uterus and it is very large. It feels like I am anywhere from 12 to 16 weeks pregnant. I knew I had gained weight in that area and my husband was telling me that I looked real pregnant, but, he confirmed that my uterus is large. He did a urine test, but, my urine was so diluted because I went to the bathroom right before the exam, that it looked like water. So, of course the urine test came back negative. He did not do a blood test though. He wants me to go and have an ultrasound done, which I can't have it done until early july. So, now it is a waiting game. I still have the pregnancy symptoms. I am tired, hungry, b___st pain, harding of the stomach, constipation, heartburn, etc. So, I don't know what is wrong. I am very short with my husband, very moody. These are all the symptoms that I had when I was pregnant with all four of my children(have three, lost one due to miscarriage). So, I am so confused. I also found out that the doctor who delivered my last child, only took about 1cm from both of my tubes and she did it at the time of my c-section. So, I don't know if they grew back or not, but, I guess I will find out at the ultrasound. I just want to ask that everyone pray for us and hopefully I am pregnant in my uterus, but, not my tubes and not something else. Thanks and I will keep you all posted and pray for all of you as well.
