Pregnancy After Tubal Ligation

To Micelle - I would call my doctor and let them know the problems you are experiencing. From what I've researched everyone seems to react differently to the surgery and it also depends on if they have the procedure after a pregnancy or just later on choose to have the tubal done. Your doctors office should be able to advise you over the phone about what you should worry about or not.

I am reading about alot of women who have had a tubal and getting pregnant afterwards. Isn't the tubal suppose to stop you from getting pregnant. I had one done 9 years ago, and I haven't gotten pregnant and I don't want to. But for those of you who have gotten pregnant after surgery, have you thought about consulting a lawyer? I still have my paperwork saying that it is 99.9% effective and that I can't have any more children. If a baby should come, we should get paid for life..what's your view on this?

How to you get the dye injection to see if your tubes came untied? Do you just ask your Dr? If they have come untied, is it definite that you will become pregnant again? I'm a mother of 5 and would love to have one more child, after a tubal. Before I had my tubal, I accually felt like even though I was having this done, I would still concieve and give birth to one more child. Isn't that crazy. They say your mind is powerful enough to heal your body. We'll soon find out!

Lady V... Yes you talk to you ob/gyn about it. It is a test commonly done for those struggling with infertility. I had it done because I did become pg (then miscarried) and am hoping to have another. I wanted to see what kind of shape my tubes are in. Once they are undone I would think you are as likely to get pg as you were before you had it done. In my case I was always extremely fertile. So I am trusting I will get pg again. Now anytime there is surgery done to the tubes it will leave scar tissue. Scar tissue on the tubes can increase chance of ectopic pg. I don't think it sounds crazy for thinking you weren't done. I had a similiar feeling although at the time didn't want anymore. I am soooo thankful now that God has done a reversal for me!

Rh'airee... I was told there was still a chance (rare but definately possible) that the tubes could reconnect and I could conceive. So for me I figure if I went to the extremes of surgery for birth control and it fails than I am trusting it is God's will for us. So no I don't feel I have any right to sue my dr.

Well, I have looking into Dr. Perez's site and I think that may be our best option. I have my operative notes and everything already, I just need the money to do the reversal. Anyone else here have a reversal with Dr. Perez? I would love to talk to you. I am scared to deaht of it all. I had never even thought of a reversal, or didn't know it was possible until I found this forum after thinking I was PG after the tubal. I had the tubal when I was a single Mom and didn't think I would ever get married. I get a little frustrated about it when I think how little I was counseled about the surgery. I went in to tell the doc I wanted a TL and he said OK, I'll schedule you for next week! I think that maybe if he had counseled me more or something that I may not have had it done and opted for an IUD or something. Argh! I could just kick myself for getting it done!

mom of 4, tubes tied in 99. I'm now 7 days late, feeling tired, a bit light headed today only, nausous today, b___sts are not sore or tender. My weight is always going up and down about 5 pounds a week since I'm already heavy. Anyone think this could be pregnancy. 2 tests say no, but I'm never late.

Simone - November 28

I am 34 years old and will be 35 in three months. I have three children who are four years apart. I have had a c-section with all three and had my tubes cut and burned right after my third child enter this world. This was Jan. 2001! Ok, now ever since then I have had normal (crampy/painful) periods that last 5 days only with maybe a day or to late here and there, but never like this. I am now 7 days late! I have had the annoying feeling in my lower abdomen like I always do when my period is coming. But this time...this time thats all I'm getting. Now I have been moody and have had lower back pain but that comes with the territory of your period. And my b___st are not tender but I've been extremly moody, bloated and just with a lack of enegry. Now I am engaged to a wonderful man who has three children as well and would love for me to have his child but also knows that I had "my tubes done" anyway I recently told him that I have missed my period for 7 days now and he said well maybe its stress, but to be honest I haven't been stressing about anything that intense that would cause my period not to come. I want to take a test but I'm torn by mixed feelings. Because even though when I made the decision to have my tubes done it was mostly because I have had three c-sections and doctors will surgest more often for a woman to have her tubes done due to the risk of having so many surgeries in the same spot being cut into again. So I did it mostly for my life! But now...now I'm torn. Because even though I would love (and GOD knows how much) to have a child I'm maddly affarid of the outcome. I mean, ok my tubes are cut and burned, and there is a 99.99% chance of me getting PG'd.... not possible right? They say anyway. Then we have getting pregnant in the tubes thing....i'm freaked out about that as well. But then if I am really PG in my WOMB! I had three c-section and all because my body wouldn't release, open up for my child. It was like my body didn't want to let them go. But anyway, the bottom line is I'm scared!!! If I am PG...I pray to GOD it's not in my tubes because I read that it's really dangerous. And I want and than again don't want to be PG in my womb because my body won't let my children go which means to be cut again and not knowing the outcome until it's to late frightens me greatly! I really need someone to understand me and give me some support on this most nerve recking issue. I'm really scared!

Simone, get tested!!!!!! If it is negative and your period still does not show up in a few days, then test again. If still negative get to your doctor. If you are pregnant you will need to have your numbers checked to make sure they are doubling and when they reach 1500 you need to demand an ultrasound to check if the baby is in the womb. If the baby were to show in the tubes there are measures to take to avoid a life threatning situation. I also had 3 c-sections and would love to have another child so looking into a reversal. I know it would be another c-section but that's ok. I've healed a long time between. Good luck.

hsmomof5 - November 28

Simone- I agree you should test ASAP! The sooner you an ectopic pg is diagnosed the safer it is for you. As far as c-sections go my neighbor had 6 and I know of another woman who had 7 or 8. I don't think it's considered as "dangerous" as it used to be. When my MIL had her babies her 4th and 5th were c-sections and back than they automatically tied you after 2 c-sections. Now it's not as big a deal. So I wouldn't worry to much about that aspect of it. But definately get tested so you can be monitored for ectopic pg!

Back from Reversal! - November 29

Hello ladies! I am now 11 days post-op from my tubal REVERSAL with Dr. Perez in Rio Bravo. It was wonderful, didn't hurt a bit, I was treated like a queen, the hospital was EXCELLENT, and the doctors and nurses were the best! My husband was in the operating room the whole time, with the Dr.'s showing him exactly what they were doing inside me! The night before surgery we got to walk around down in Rio Bravo, and it was SOOOO much fun! The food was excellent and all the people were so great! The dr. said we have 5cm of tube on the left, and 6cm on the right and that statistically we have 80% chance! Although, of course it's really up to God. In the operating room there was a cross over the doorway - that was awesome -a reminder of who really is in charge of our fertility. Anyway, I will be posting a full testimony soon on the message boards over at www.riobravoreversal.com if anyone would like to read it. If anyone would like more info from me on the surgery or Dr. Perez, please email me at robertshelp@yahoo.com. I will try to answer any questions you might have! God Bless! --Tracey Roberts

i had a tubal done july 14 of this year. every month my period comes on later and later every month. before my tubal my period came on the 23rd of every month but this month it did not come on yet i just want somebodys thought on what should i do i do want another baby but my husband does not we have 4 kids and i am only 22 years old and my is 25 years old i hope no one thinks i am crazy

to redvelvet - November 29

No, sweetie, we don't think you're crazy. So many of us here desire more children, and so badly, that our minds trick our bodies into mimicing pregnancy symptoms. Which, of course, further makes us want babies and feel nuts! LOL! If your husband isn't of the same mindset as you, just keep giving it to the Lord in prayer. Place all your burdens on Him, and He will change your husband's heart. When I first was looking into Dr. Perez, my husband said no way, because he was in Mexico. My dh thought I was nuts and that it would be foolish and dangerous. But, I laid it on Christ, and He changed my dh's heart. My dh finally agreed to look at the website and read the testimonies of the women (and their husbands) who have actually been down there and had the reversal. And he read how many, many of them now have reversal babies to bless their lives. We just had my surgery 11 days ago, and I am on cloud 9! Maybe even cloud 11! Dr .Perez is affordable - $2150 compared to $20,000+ in the states, and he not only will "untie" your tubes, he can and will do total reconstructive surgery as he finds it needed. So if he goes in and finds things a mess, he will just fix them - no extra charges! I really encourage you to read over the website, and then keep praying that your dh's heart will be softened to the idea of more babies! ----Tracey
