Erin-thanks for the advice...that is something that i will definitely take into consideration...and i am definitely not pregnant..saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks, it was just a slow flicker and based on the ultrasound, its very near my cervix...i am coming to terms with it...my boyfriend however, is not..i know it hasn't even been 2 days and i am already thinking about when i want to try again..but he is saying he may not want to try again..he does not want to take the chance this would happen a 2nd time and have to deal with the heartache again..i'll just give him time...thanks again

Yvette--- are you saying that just 2 days ago they seen the heart flicker??? not sure I understand... If I'm getting this wrong and you did have a m/c and not pregnant, like you said your not... How long ago did you have the loss?

Yvette - if the baby was implanted in your cervix that is a very rare type of Ectopic pregnancy (not all are in the tubes, ectopic just means not in the uterus. The embryo can be in the ovary, the cervix, the v____a, and even on the abdoman, but don't ask me how it get's there...). I had this type of ectopic pregnancy in May. Very hard to diagnose. How was yours treated? D&C or drugs? Good news is that it is almost always a random event.

Yvette - Also, an ectopic pregnancy frequently has very low HCG and progesterone levels, so the 2 that you had may be because it was an unhealthy pregnancy. You should have your progesterone levels tested before you get pregnant again, just after ovulation. Talk to your doctor about this. I know it is hard to find the courage to try again. I was just a mess last Thursday when my 3rd mc happened and I was vowing this was the last time, but I'm already feeling like I will find the strength to try again. You sort of get used to failing and then if it actually happens and works, you can be happy!

Erin-more helpful information, thanks soo much..its appreciated..Sept. 19 was my first u/s where there was a slow flicker of a heartbeat..the fetus was in the right place but most of my symptoms had disappeared..no nausea, no tender b___sts, nothing at all like i had experienced in the beginning..then Sept. 25, the bleeding began along with backaches and cramping...Sept. 26 no heartbeat and fetus had moved now low near the cervix making its way out of my body...I feel confident that it was my progesterone from the beginning as I have PCOS and problems with hormonal balance anyway...and my doctor advised that my blood sugars are well maintained as well since i am a diabetic...so today is another day..i feel ok...and still remain hopeful...i'll wait for tomorrow and see how i feel then...

correction-my doctor had advised me to make sure that my blood sugars are well maintained before i try again...i can understand being apprehensive...but i just feel like this is something that i can do...my b/f on the other hand is another story...its only been a a day and half since we've had the news and he has said that he may not want to try again...too much uncertainty...too much heartache..i am hoping that he will change his mind in time...i don't have alot of time left to keep trying considering my 41st birthday is right around the corner..i think some men forget they can make babies at just about any ole age..while women...well...we have our limitations..i wish you luck erin...

Yvette you are so right about men not really understanding the age thing. Since so many women do have babies later nowdays, they think it's easy for everyone. And if you have problems like we have, you lose so much time. I wanted to try a year earlier, when I was 35, but my husband didn't think he was ready yet (we were married a year and have young children from previous marriages). When he was finally ready, I was another year older and who knows....

Yvette- men are just as emotional as us. lol... My husband was so upset (along with me) with our last loss. Yet, I got pregnant 5 weeks after our loss, without even getting a period yet... Let me tell you, he is soooo much better now. He said, he didn't think he could go through it "again" and at first, with this one, he was very weary, as was I... But, now that we just seen its heartbeat yesterday at 166 and measured exactly 7 weeks 3 days, (as we know the date of conception)... He is constantly telling me how happy he is, and how he knows this one is going to work... So, yes... it is so hard to go through a m/c (or 3 like me)... yet, you will be blessed eventually. Just have to try to stay strong! Best of luck!!!

I am going through the same thing right now. I am almost 10 weeks. The first time they checked my levels it was 14.4 and the doctor put me on 25 mg twice a day. I took these for two weeks and it went to 12.6 and the doctor increased the meds to 50 mg twice aday. After one week they had went to 16.2 which was good. I just went back to the doctor this past Monday. They has went to 15.0. Now he has increased it to 100 mg twice daily. This is kind of scary that it keeps going up and down. Does any know what the normal progestrone level should be during the first trimester. On the ultra sounds they say everthing looks good. The baby's heart rate is 158-163.

Rebecca- At 6wks my progesterone was 12.5 and they said it should be over 20. You might want to ask your doctor what your progesterone should be by now. I think by twelve weeks you won't need to worry about it anymore because the placenta takes over.

Rebecca, are you getting your blood drawn at the same time everyday? It's supposed to be the highest first thing in the morning...

Rebecca--- your progesterone levels aren't that much different to worry about.. your level is different thru out the day... It could be at 16 in the morning and at 14 at night... So, you shouldn't worry about it unless it drops dramatically.. Also, your almost to your 12 week mark (in which you wont need to take supplements anymore) so, you wont have to worry about this much more... Especially if everything is looking good in the ultrasound!!

THEY USUALLY DRAW MY BLOOD LATER IN THE EVENING IT IS USUALLY AROUND THE SAME TIME. HOWEVER THIS TIME IT WAS PRETTY LATE ALMOST 7:00. THEN THEY DID NOT GET IT TO THE LAB ON TIME AND HAD TO WAIT AND BE SENT OUT THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAY EVERYTHING LOOKS GREAT IN THE ULTRASOUND AND I SHOULD NOT WORRY. BUT I CAN NOT HELP BUT WORRY. WE HAVE TRIED FOR 3 1/2 YEARS TO CONCEIVE AGAIN. I JUST WANT EVERYTHING TO BE OK. I GO BACK TO THE DOCTOR ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 3RD. I WILL HAVE ANOTHER ULTRASOUND AND MORE BLOOD DRAWN TO CHECK THE LEVELS AGAIN. MY DOCTOR SAID AT 12 WEEKS WHEN HE COULD HERE THE BABY'S HEARTBEAT THAT I COULD STOP TAKING THE PROGESTRONE.

Rebecca, I have an appointment on Mon., too. I've had 5 m/c over the past 10 years. Also have 5 kids. Never been tested for progesterone issues. Was going to get all that stuff checked after last m/c in May, but didn't get it done before I got pregnant. They said my HCG today was 606. Is this low for c. 5 weeks? Dr. said it was OK, but we're checking it again in 2 days to see if it doubles. DIdn't check progesterone. Going to ask them to check it on Mon. Dr. put me on oral prometrium 100mg 3x per day already. I'm new to this hormone thing, but I've been reading all the posts, and I'm gathering that none of you have had bad side effects from it?!?! Or problems for the baby?? I filled the prescription, but haven't started yet. Wanted to get some more info on it first. What can you guys tell me? Thanks

Rebecca- you can hear the babys heart beat at 7 weeks... My ultrasound at 5 weeks 6 days, the heart started to flicker and at 7 weeks 3 days, it was beating extremely strong at 166...
