Progesterone Dropping

Hey, my dr. apt went great. He or she kept moving around so much, kicking, waving its arms, etc. that it was really hard to get the doppler to pick up one straight heartbeat. Everytime we almost got it, the little one would jump to the other side. I was laughing so much. So, as you can tell everything looked great. My husband laughed saying it looked like an alian. Hah!! Well, I was 11 weeks 1 day at my apt on Friday.... So, I asked the dr. to refill my prescription (Crinone 8%) for one more week. She did. I actually didn't even have her test my progesterone because everything looked good and now its up to the baby to make it on its own. Not much I can do now. But, I have faith.. this one is surely a strong one. :)

I am so glad to hear everything was good!!! When we did our u/s at 21 weeks she was jumping around alot too, she moved from breech to head down during it.

Dani- yeah, its such the greatest thing to see. I've lost 3 pregnancies in the past. My last one was the longest one (lost) at about 11 to 12 weeks.. But, it never grew more than 7 1/2 weeks measurement.. So, this was basically the first we've seen so big, etc. This will be our first baby also. I think the time is perfect this time and I just can't believe that he or she is due around Mother's Day. :) Anyhow, my next appt. is the first week of Dec. I will be about 17 to 18 weeks then and that is when they are doing the triple screen test, etc. and that is when we find out if its a boy or girl. I am so excited!! I think its getting to that point now where time is actually moving faster. At first, it seemed like it was at a pause. Dani- you may have said, but how far along are you now?? Or was this a previous pregnancy?? Just wondering what's going on. :)

Dani- Almost 26 weeks??

Dani - October 24

Yes, I am almost 26 weeks, it will be tomorrow. I have been fighitng a cold for the past few days, soooo gross!!!! I am so glad you are doing well, after you hit the 2nd trimester it does seem to fly...our shower is in 2 week from this coming Saturday, I can't believe it! She is kicking me all the time too, especially after I eat!!!

Daniella - October 24

Dani- Awww... that is so awesome!!! I bet it will be a lot of fun. I can't have a shower because I am over here in Japan and all my family is in Chicago and Ohio. It really kinda sucks. I will be home for Christmas, but I will only be about 20 weeks along and not only is that too early for a shower, there is also no way we can bring everything back with us to Japan. Nor can you use gift certificates. So, even though this will be our first baby, we don't get to do any of that cool stuff. I hardly know anyone here at all. Maybe like 2 or 3 girlfriends. I am praying that we can get transffered out of here before its too late for me to fly. Anyhow, hope all goes well with you. Keep updated and good luck!!! ;-)

I went to the dr. today. I will be 12 weeks Wed. and I asked him how long I will be on the prometrium, he said another couple months....is this right? does this sound safe?

Daniella - October 24

Alex- Wow.. you, Debbie, and I (and maybe others Im not sure of) are due around the same time. That is neat!! I will be 12 weeks on Thursday here, which is Wed. in the states. :) Due May 11th. I can't wait until I hit that day.. My last day of taking these progesterone supplements. Yea!!!! Congrats to you all as well that are about to get off also!!

Alex - October 25

My doc said I will keep taking the progesterone a few more months though? Until like 5 months...is that safe?

Daniella - October 25

I wouldn't!! Your dr. doesn't seem very smart. Or is he a new dr.?? After 12 weeks there is absolutely NO point. LOL... Heck, I have luteal phase defect that my ovaries don't even produce enough progesterone to ovulate much less sustain a pregnacy. Yet, I get to stop my meds at 12 weeks because actually the baby makes its own at about 10 weeks, but for sure 12. That is why most dr's say 12 weeks. After that, its up to the baby. It produces its own thru the placenta. So, taking progesterone supplements after 12 weeks is nothing but a waste. Read up on it, you will see. I have no idea why your dr. would say 5 months.

Thanks Daniella, That's what I was thinking. I had read everywhere to take till 12 weeks. I called him today to ask what the rationale was, thinking maybe I was missing something. He will call back tommorow. I can't think of why...Anyways, when do you stop taking it at the end of 12 weeks or the beginning? I am 12 weeks tommorow. You and I are due right around the same time. This is my first, how about you?

Daniella - October 25

Alex- this will be our first baby also. What a Mother's Day present. :) lol.. But, I've been pregnant 3 other times in the past. I lost my first from an ectopic, the second was a natural miscarriage and the last one I had a D&C on July 16th. Anyhow, after the 3rd one, they did the testing and the only thing wrong with me is that I don't produce enough progesterone. The only reason I had enough this time to get pregnant, is because the dr. put me on meds to "make" me get my period since I still hadn't got it yet since my D&C on July 16th. Anyhow, the meds had progesterone in it. lol... So, it was an actually blessing. I started taking progesterone supplements as soon as I found out I was pregnant this time and it has been the savior of this pregnancy. Some dr's say you can get off the meds at 10 weeks. Some say 11 weeks... but, the one's that say 12 weeks, say that just to keep you at ease. You can get off them anytime now, really. I know tomorrow is my last day (12 weeks), but I have like 4 doses left... So, I am just going to finish them off. Anyhow, your far enough along, that you are past the miscarriage point now. "Congrats!!!" So, no need to take anymore supplements (except your prenatals). If it makes you feel better, have the dr. test your level again now. Just to see what its at. I'm sure your perfectly fine. :)

Some doctors believe that progesterone supplements prevent premature labor, and give it throughout pregancy. This is not very common, though.

Daniella - October 25

Erin- usually they don't give you it until later on, to prevent premature labor. But from the beginning to 5 months doesn't seem right.

kylie - October 25

hi gals, I am currently off to do my blood tests, but on my day 21 progesterone tests I was @ 70? we had intercourse all week that week when ovulating, do you know if i have a good chance of being pregnant, this is out 7th time of clomid :( Help!!!

Daniella - October 25

Kylie- not sure on that... most these post are of females on progesterone "during" a pregnancy. 70 seems extrememly high.. but, thats to a woman that doesn't produce much. At 8 weeks pregnancy my level was 19. So, I dunno. Ask your dr. when you do your test.
