Progesterone Dropping

No it doesn't mean you will lose it necessarily. Knowing your levels, I would hope your dr will put you on a progesterone cream supplement to help sustain the pregnancy. Ask him and voice your concerns now before something happens. Good luck to you!

Laine, I certainly hope not! Are you on progesterone now? Also, does anyone know if progesterone makes you emotional and moody? I'm super sensitive lately, yelling at my hubby for every little thing and the fact that there was snow on the ground made me cry (happy tears) today (it's been there for a while). I couldn't even get through a magazine without going through three kleenexs! Ugh! What's wrong with me?

That is what PMS is!! lol.... pre-menstral-syndrome.... the wonderful hormones that rise dramatically right before a period. So, if you are taking the hormones right after you ovulate, then you are just increasing your natural PMS. If that makes sense. Laine- I sure hope your dr. put you on progesterone supplments right away. You may have a chance to save it. If you have another m/c then maybe you should consider taking progesterone supplements right away on your next pregnancy regardless. Although, I don't know how you would have a progesterone problem if it got all the way up to 40. I was hardly at 20 going into my second trimester WITH supplements. So, it might be something else. But, just in case, you should really considering taking them ASAP. It could only help!! Also, your HCG should "at least" double every 48 hours. Usually it doubles every 36 hours in the very beginning... but, most dr's would like to see it at least double. Also, are you sure you were 17dpo when it was only 16?? Usually 16 wouldn't even give you a positive pregnancy test. My HCG was 134 at 13dpo. Or did you do IVF so you know for sure??

I had a miscarriage on Sept 7th. I am now 10 weeks pregnant and have been using progesterone suppositories 2x a day. Had an ultrasound and everything looks fine. So far so good.

I dont have any answers to anyone's worries but what I'd like to say is thankyou to everyone who has posted on this site (especially Daniella - your level headed advice has helped me today. I have just spent over an hour reading all the entries and the reason: - Well last year I fell pregnant 3 times (yes 3), lost the first two at around 9 weeks - now Im on my third pregnancy which is now at 6 weeks and 6 days and I cant say Im not scared about the outcome. I never heard or received advise about progesterone with the first two - but when I went to see a specialist two days ago he suggested I take it. Im on 400mg twice a day - seems a lot but what do I know. I cant even tell you what my levels are cause Im not even sure Ive been tested but becasue of everything that I have read today I will surely go and ask for tests with my gp. I also wanted to ask if someone knows if there is any relation to taking Progesterone (even after only two days) and the fact that my symptom of tender b___sts seems less today than two days ago. I should also add that the heartbeat on the first scan two days ago was registered at less than 100 bpm. I shall try to remain positive and keep my fingers crossed until my next scan. Thanks again for all the rea__suring messages from everyone.

Daniela Maria- thats funny you put that because my first and middle name is Daniella Maria... anyhow.. heres some hope for ya.. you seen a heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days. right there is a great thing. Not too often do you see much more than a flicker before 7 weeks. Usually about 6 weeks, 2 days does most doctors pick up a heart flicker... then about 7 weeks a heartbeat. By 7.5 weeks, you should see a strong heartbeat. Anyhow, it was at 100bpm.. at 6w6d.. not to shabby at all. Also, don't worry about the amount of progesterone your on. I was on Crinone 8%. The highest dose without injection. Its all natural, so your body will just expel what it doesn't need and can't harm. Also, usually you get increases pregnancy symptoms with it. Basically the same symptoms as premenstal. When is your next u/s? Just take your progesterone everyday without forgetting and take your prenatal viatamins. As long as you do the best you can, then you can't put any guilt on yourself shall anything happen. The rest is up to fate. If anything does happen, then you know for your next pregnancy to take the supplements the moment you have a positive pregnancy test. I lost 3 pregnancies before finding it out. My last one was too late by the time we found out. My level was at 8.4 and in the first trimester it should be over 14. On my current pregnacy my progesterone was at 19 in the first trimester. So, I can honestly say that the supplements is the reason why I am now 23 weeks pregnant with a healthy boy. If you want to email me direct, I can give you my 7.5 week ultrasound pic, my 11 week, etc. plus some good websites with the levels, etc. My Email is "Jarhead4me2@aol.com"

Daniella, thanks for the rea__suring words and quick response. My next scan should be in three weeks or sooner if I get worried about what Im feeling or rather not feeling. As for symptoms you say they may increase...... but mine have levelled off a bit.. still tied and b___sts tender but not as before but then maybe Im being paronoid.... I shall make sure I get my levels checked as soon as possible and will mail you direct for the other info you have. By the way thats an incredible coincidence that we have the same name and in fact I never go by Daniela Maria I only used Maria to differentiate between us as I didn't want others to get us confused.

Daniella - January 15

LOL... about the name. Also, I just want you to know that symptoms, no symtoms, there, then not there, etc., etc... are really just your own body's way of dealing with the hormones. To be honest with you, I didn't even have any pregnancy symptoms (except the metal taste in my mouth) until I was about 8 or 9 weeks. I never had sore b___bs, even though they are naturally on the bigger side, lol.. and I never had frequent urination or really any premenstral type symptoms. I am now 23 weeks, and still hardly have had any symptoms but the ones you get later on, like.. thicker hair and the line that goes up to your belly b___ton and I lactate just a little. Oh, and obviously the kicks all day long. Yet, for the rest of the symptoms... I never really had. I got nauseated with my last pregnancy I lost, but I didn't with this one that I am keeping. So, I totally believe that each pregnancy is different and same with how your body reacts to whats happening. Try not to stress. If you start bleeding where its filling a pad, then you may want to go to the hospital. Yet, also note that almost everyone I have known, including myself, had got this weird salmon color discharge from the progesterone supplements. Totally normal to see a little pink like color when you wipe. But, if you see actual blood and having cramps, don't hesitate to go to the dr. Other than that... just take it easy and try not to stress. I know its extremely hard not to worry after you experienced a m/c, and even more so, when you've experienced multiple m/c with no live births. I was scared until I was 12 weeks when the baby was producing his hormones on his own. Heck, I still have worry, but nothing like you have in the beginning. Well, I wish you the best of luck!!! Take care!!

Hello girls. This is my first time here. I just started taking supplements this cycle. I had to convince my gyn that something was wrong after 2 early miscarriages (8 wk and 4.5 wk). I took a pregnancy test this morning (day 15) and it was negative. My gyn told me I should stop the supplements today and wait three days, if I bleed I am not pregnant, I don't I am. I am scared though. The 4.5 week miscarriage didn't show a positive test either, but the ultrasound did. Should I stop tonight or should I demand I blood test to make sure I am not pg. I don't want this to happen again!

Daniella - January 19

Not sure what your asking... are you taking progesterone supplements "before" you are 100% sure of ovulation? I have real bad LPD and I am to take the progesterone supplements the moment I find out I'm pregnant. NOT before I get a positive test. If you take it too soon you can miss ovulation. Some doctors can put you on progesterone supplements after they run test and know 100% sure that you did indeed ovulated. And once you start bleeding you stop the supplements. If your only on day 15, wait a couple more days and take a test. If its still neg. then you probalby either missed ovulation or your not pregnant and wait to bleed. When did you start taking the supplements? day 16 of the cycle? 2 days after ovulation is suppose to occur or when??

jlo - January 19

I started the second day of high temp. Today is 15 days after ovulation, sorry about the confusion.

Daniella - January 19

jlo- so you only went by your temp.? did your doctor test to make sure you ovulated for sure?? Are your cycles every 28 days every single time?? If you have a 28 day cycle every month, I would say to start the supplements around day 17 or 18, just to make sure that its pa__sed ovulation. If you take it even one day too soon, you will suppress ovulation. Who wants that when your trying for a baby, ya know.

Arti - January 28

Hi ladies..I found out on jan 20th that i am pregnant. My levels that day were hcg: 29 and progesterone 34.The doc thot i was abt 11-12 dpo. I rechecked after 4 days and hcg was 220. After 2 days, i checked again..and hcg was 549 and progesterone only 18.4!! I was shocked to see the drop in progesterone though the hcg level was more than expected. My nurse put me on crinone gel 8 % once a night upto 8 weeks. I think I am 4 1/2 weeks now. I have been reading abt women using it twice a day...Should I jus increase the dose by myself..(use it in the morning too) or jus continue with the once a night dose. Do u know any effects it can have if we increase it?? I am so worried abt it..I had to ask my obgyn for a blood test and also for prescribing progesterone. It feels I am the doctor!!

Daniella - January 28

Arti- I was in the same exact boat... My progesterone came back 19.1 (because I had them check it) and they also put me on Crinone 8%... My HCG was 134 exactly 13dpo and 370 exactly 15dpo. In the very beginning HCG should actually triple every 48 hours and then double and then when they hit 10,000 only double every 72 hours. So, yours sound exactly fine. Also a level of 18 is still actually great. The 34 maybe kinda high... Anyhow, I would definitely NOT take 2 doses of the Crinone. The one dose right before bed is all you need. Trust me. My body doesn't produce enough to sustain a pregnancy and I lost 3 before this one, and it saved my current pregnancy that I am now 26 weeks. Just taking Crinone 8% once each night up unitl I hit 12 weeks. Once you hit 12 weeks the baby produces it on its own so you don't need to supplement any further. Also, are you scheduled for an ultarasound in a couple weeks?? From there you will be able to tell how the pregnancy is progressing.

Daniella - January 28

Oh, one last thing... Crinone 8% is the highest dose on the market aside from the shot of progesterone. If your doctor wanted you to do 2 doses, he would have prescribed you Crinone 4% to insert twice a day. So, trust that the 8% is all you need once a night. Just stick it in far and dont get out of bed right after.. might drip out. lol.. but, sure you know that. Also, keep at room temp. Not too hot, not too cold. Some progesterone supplements say to put in fridge. NOT crinone. :) Also, if you notice a pink salmon color discharge, its completely normal from the meds.

arti - January 29

Daniella...Thank u soooooooooo much for the reply..u jus saved me from getting paranoid and having sleepless nights!!! I have taken 2 doses till now and take it jus before i sleep, though a lil came out even when i was lying on the back..i guess thats normal. One thing i was wondering was there seemed to be some stuff left in the tube but i kept pressing it and nothing came out...it says in the box that its ok if u see some stuff left inside the tube...did u have the same experience too?? I have decided not to worry myself too much now..I was thinking of going for a blood test next week but i guess i will wait for 2 weeks and then go.I am scheduled for an u/s anywhere betn, 8th to 12th week..i probably will go last week of Feb.I can't wait to hear the heartbeat!!
