I searched the word progesterone and found this post but now that I see it is in the pregancy complications section - I'm still a "trying to get pregnant" section girl. Shelby - in Canada you have to be referred by your GP to a ob/gyn always. I heard that the US changed that law a while back so that you could go to an ob/gyn when you wanted to. In Canada, they won't accept appt's unless referred by your GP (trust me I tried). I have probably had at least 2 missed pregnancies these past couple months due to the low progesterone/estrogen dominance. I was just wondering if anybody had this problem after going off the pill but now realize I was in the wrong section...sorry about that.

Rachel, I apologize. I was unaware that you are in Canada. If you're trying to get pregnant drink 2 ounces of Goji Juice a day; You can find it on the web. I got pregnant about a month after being on it and it's almost impossible to get me pregnant. You should not be taking progesterone if you're trying to get pregnant, though. Also, take folic acid daily and B12 injections weekly and go someplace romantic for about 3 or 4 days when you're supposed to be ovulating. That should do the trick. At least, that's what worked for me, but I wasn't trying to get pregnant.

Thanks Shelby. I think the US has the better system by letting people go to the ob/gyn at will rather than this waiting nonsense. THe low progesterone is causing implantation problems, sheds the uterine lining while the egg is trying ti implant, that's why I get the one day of spotting. The fact that the GP won't help is ridiculous, it almost feels like I'm aborting these could-be babies that I really want. I think you are right on the vacay, we are going to Hawaii at the end of November and I ovulate during that time (that is if my cycle doesn't get screwed up again like last month). I'll take a look at that Goji juice too, I'm willing t try anything. I do however believe that the low progesterone is the source of my problems but without doctor approval I am unwilling to take anything for it. Best of luck to you!

I am in the same boat right now as Stephanie and I have just been told that my progestrone level is at 9 and that I should be expecting my period not any other good news. I have been tring since January( I have not used birth control in over 4 yrs) and have been on Clomid for 2 cycles but am tring a new drug in Novemeber because I have every side affect possible. I really think that I am pregeant but I want to know if it is impossible considering my levels and will this cause me to miscarry if I am.I am glad that I found all you guys. I wish you all nothing but luck. One more question............ When did you do a pregency test. The day you missed your period or before. I had a negetive one on Saturday and I was hoping that it was to early.

Hi...I'm new to this forum...I wanted to post a question...but I don't know how! lol Anyway, I just did my first IVF transfer this past Saturday...two embryos...both in very good condition. I had my progesterone level tested yesterday and it was 40. Can ANYONE tell me if that's good??? Is it any indication I MIGHT be pregnant? I've had endometriosis, and have been trying for years to get pregnant...had an IUI done, got pregnant, but it was etopic, and it ruptured...almost killing me in the process. My husband doesn't want to try any more if this IVF transfer didn't work..so I'm desperate ladies!!! I've been instructed to take 1cc of Progesterone oil every night (in my @ss...ouch!!)...so Im wondering if that's why my level is so high?? I've also been very tired, getting up 2x a night to pee (sorry to be so blunt), I have heartburn and my nipples are getting larger and darkening. Could ALL of these symptoms be from the shots?? Someone, please let me know...I can't find anything online regarding what progesterone levels are normal after an ivf transfer, or while you're on shots...thanks!!!

I have just stumbled across this cite, and am so glad. I see that there is hope, as well as sadness to share. I, like many of you, am preg. with low progesterone levels. I miscarried in May, '05 and am now preg. again. My doctor has run blood tests to be safe, as to check my hormone levels. Last Mon. my prog. level was at 25 and by Friday had dropped to 15. It is now Mon and I have started taking a v____al supplement of 200mg twice daily. I am so scared that I am going to miscarry. Should I be concerned with the rapid drop in my numbers? Should I be hopefully that the supplements will actually work, or am I prolonging a miscarry? (As some research I've read suggests) Please HELP!

E, I would try not to worry myself too much. I know that's easier said than done, but it sounds like your doctor may have caught it in time. When I got pregnant with my son I had already started bleeding before I went to the doctor and after running blood tests and performing an ultrasound he said that there was very little hope. Within a day or two of being on the progesterone, I stopped bleeding and never had another problem. Sometimes your body just needs a little kick start.

I am 5 weeks preg. started bleeding heavy after a us (probe) and have been bleeding for 6 days now. No cramping and closed cervix, no fetus on us yet. My prog. level is 2.5 and my hcg is 2200 should I be worried?

Wendy 1, Your progesterone level is awfully low. What did your doctor say? I would ask for another us next week. The heart beat, although not audible, should be visible by that time. Once you are able to see the heart beat, it should help to set your mind at ease, but your progesterone levels need to come up quickly in order for your body to be able to sustain the pregnancy. The bleeding may or may not be related. I'm a__suming your doc perscribed you progesterone??? Good luck!

Shelby, Thanks for the reply. It is at least rea__suring to hear other stories, and feel that there is someone else that has been in the same shoes. After you started with the progesterone were there any other worries. I see my doctor for the first time on Friday. Are there any questions that I should make sure to ask him while I am there? How long do you, anyone reading this recommend that I wait before telling people that I am pregnant. The only people that know now are my husband and sister. I am scared to tell my parents, as I don't want to alarm them. Beyond the 10-13 weeks? Are my risks way higher than someone not on progesterone. Does anyone have answers?

E, I have been in your exact same predicament and understand how frustrating it can be having to hold off breaking the news to friends and family, but the only thing that keeps us from doing this is doubt, fear and superst_tion. I don't think it's necessarily healthy to keep this type of news to yourself, because it only accentuates the negative which in turn, can cause undue stress, anxiety and depression. I don't know all of the details, but if it's only a low progesterone level that's causing complications, your odds for a full term pregnancy are much better now that you have started the hormone therapy than they were before you started. I wish I could offer you a little more encouragement, but your doctor's appointment is only a few short days away and I'm sure he/she will want to perform an ultrasound and run more blood tests which will be very telling as to whether or not you are responding to treatment. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Thanks again Shelby! It is weird how hearing from you, and reading the stories above mine, can make me feel so much more relaxed. (Or at least comforted) I will keep you posted on how Friday goes. My doctor is going to do an ultra sound, At least if I am not brave enough to share my news with family, I have people like you that I can talk to here! Thanks again.
