Hi Babyblues, I am very hopeful for you. There are many many positive stories here that should help you through the next few days.
Did your doc indicate he/she would do a sonogram to verify that everything is ok or only a blood test? I would suggest asking for a sonogram if you have not had one scheduled yet.
Good luck!

Natalie-Nat: I'm so frustrated with the doctor's office, I just spent the last few hours trying to call their office to get the results of my blood test, no answer. I didn't really even get to talk to the doctor today when I went into the office, so she made no suggestions for u/s or anything else.I guess she figures since I'm not soaking thru pads & bleeding very heavily that it's not an emergency, however, I need to know what is going on with the baby & my body. I need to feel like I'm doing something proactive. After today, I've decided I'm going to go to my appointment on Monday & then after that I will switch doctor's & until then I will pray....

Babyblues--I'm sorry you are having such bad luck with the doctor. It certainly does sound like time to find a doctor that is more patient focused. In the meantime, if you haven't already, it might make you feel proactive just to put together a list of doctors to call first thing on Monday. And, if things worsen or you are having trouble getting through the weekend, I know many woman in the same situation who have gone to the ER and been given a sono and other diagnostic tests. I do think that the ER is not as specialized and may not be as sensitive about the information they convey but at least it's information to help you. I know it won't be easy, but try your best to stay positive and do what you can to take your mind off of things. This will definitely help you. Good luck.

Hi there everyone, I am glad I found this forum, as it has given me a lot of hope. I am 12 weeks pregnant today, with our first child, and I have to say it hasn't been easy. I woke up early when I was 5 1/2 weeks along to a small blood clot and bright red bleeding. It stopped, but I went to the docs anyway. He ordered an ultrasound for the next day, which was done internally due to how early I was. Everything appeared to be fine, even a heartbeat was found, but no subchorionic bleeding was found. I was asked to do another ultrasound around 11 weeks to see how I was going (the doc was concerned with me not having morning sickness). This ultrasound showed the baby was growing very well, it had a strong heartbeat 167bpm, we even saw it moving around, kicking its legs and waving etc. I picked the scans up from the hospital yesterday avo, and had a peek at the report (as the envelope wasn't sealed). I freaked when it showed I had a small subchorionic bleed, not to mention when I read further that I had a low lying placenta that was covering the cervical opening. I called the doctors office straight away to see if I could see the doctor, the secretary spoke to a nurse and said it wasnt too serious, they have me booked in for an appt next tuesday. I have had only the tiniest streak of brown blood, and that was on July 3, I have had no spotting or blood since then, and have had no cramps or aches. All my other preg symptoms are continuing as normal. I have been resting heaps as I get fatigued rather easily, so I hope that helps. As this is my first bub and being so far along I am petrified of a miscarriage at this stage. I know that things are looking positive, and thank goodness I found this site, I feel 100% better reading everyones stories. Will give you an update after I see the doc next :-)

Thanks for the words of encouragement Doll :-) I pray every day for our little one, when I first found out about the bleeding I panicked, the next day I felt a lot calmer, I keep thinking how much bub made me laugh by how it was moving around on screen, and all the other good things I have felt throughout my pregnancy so far. My partner has been a tower of strength also, I couldn't do this without him :-) A big congrats to Sarah, your little girl is truly a gift, I wish you the very best :-) xx

Hi, I have been following this blog for quite a while now. It has been so helpful and rea__suring to read everyone else's stories. I am 14+ wks. pregnant. This is my fourth pregnancy. My last pregnancy I miscarried twins at 17 wks. for an unknown cause. I was diagnosed through u/s with SBC when I was 6 wks. along with this one, and have been scared to death of losing this baby ever since!! My bleed started out somewhere around 2+ cm and grew (in two weeks) to 5cm x 3cm. Fairly large. I was put on bedrest (hard to do with a 3 and 2 yr. old at home) and was referred by my OB to a paranatologist. When we went in for our last u/s about three weeks ago, the baby was doing absolutely great, strong heart rate. The best news of all was that it had shrunk to just under 2cm and even smaller width wise. I have another u/s next week and we shall see what it news it brings. I just wanted to let you all know what a HUGE help all of your information on SBC's has been, especially when we were scared to death over losing this baby. Even though there is still fear, I think that I am starting to relax (alittle). Hang in there to the rest of you!

Hi Chandra, I am so glad that things are going well for your pregnancy now. I was also very scared (still am) that I would lose the baby, I had no idea what subchorionic bleeding was, I did not know anyone who had experienced it, so I was pretty much in the dark. I thought that it meant that I was on my way to a miscarriage, or that I had not looked after myself properly (despite wrapping myself in cotton wool). I just visited the doctor the other day about the ultrasound report, he was not concerned at all about the bleed. He was more concerned that I also have a lowlying placenta which at the moment is completely covering my cervical opening. He also said that my lowlying placenta could possibly be the reason why I have a subchorionic bleed. I have been put on 'light duties', and was told to refrain from strenuous activities (eg. s_x) and was told not to return to work unless they could transfer me to a department where I would not be doind any heavy lifting. Apart from that the baby's heartbeat is very strong, I am healthy (no anaemia, no diseases), my blood pressure is good, and he is pleased about how I am taking things. He is very confident that I will carry to term and have a healthy baby, I just have to be mindful that if I have placenta praevia towards the end of my pregnancy, there is a high chance of me having a caesarean. I don't mind as long as bub comes out ok. I am now 13 1/2 weeks, still going strong, and have been cleared to take a trip to New Zealand on Monday. Hope all you guys are going well too! :-)

Hi all, I am new this forum. I am 21 weeks pregnant and my situation developed at 16 weeks. I awoke to a huge gush of bright red blood. After a few phone calls we arrived at our local hospitals L & D unit. An u/s revealed a healthy fetus with a normal heart rate. After numerous U/S I am still spotting brown (old) blood to which I am rea__sured is great. I am now 21 weeks and just had another U/S which showed the hematoma to be 7cm x 5 cm which is what it measured 5 weeks ago. No one seems to be concerned but me. They said I will continue to lose the old blood and as long as it is not bright red (a sign of a new bleed) all is well. No bed rest no restrictions, nothing.
The baby looks great, shes measuring a week ahead on growth, heartbeat is within normal range. Hers stay between 144-158 but I am still terrified!! Info is very limited on this topic for it to be so common.

Dear SarahS: Congratulations on your baby girl. I also want to update my status. I am approaching my 38 weeks. All is well. I was diagnosed with subchorionic bleeding at week 9 and homozygous for the C677T mutation in my MTHFR gene, which seems to cause the problem. I have been on Folic acid, vitamin b6 and b12, and baby asprin since week 13. Now, I have stopped baby asprin to prepare for labor. Good luck to the rest of you. Dear AngelRN, I hope that things will work well for you. Have they tested you for MTHFR? According to my high risk OB, about 40% of the problematic pregnancies are due to the mutations in this gene. If you happen to locate in Maryland, DC, Virginia area, his name is Dr. Wayne Kramer. He is very knowledgable and nice. Good luck!

My baby boys name is Lachlan and has bad reflux and Cows Milk Protein Intolerance, he is having a rough trot other then that he is very healthy, just had some trying times in the first 3 mths which I am sure/hoping will get better. Here's a note of encouragement to everyone. I was dx with sub hem at 14 weeks after a bleeding episode. I am 38 y/o; this was my 2nd preg. First baby I miscarried 07/05. Throughout the duration of my pregnancy I had complications with the placenta. Partial abruption, mild cord damage, with 2 LARGE blood clots on both sides of the placenta. The perinatologist felt I would not make it past week 22 because of a likelihood of complete abruption, preeclampia or growth restriction of the baby. This pregnancy really tested my faith. From 16 weeks I bled again and stayed on restricted bedrest until I reached viability (24 weeks). After that I resumed normal activity however I did exercise pelvic rest. My Pastor, church and family continued to pray for this pregnancy to at least make it to 6 mths.
After I reached 28 weeks I breathed a little easier...28 turned to 30, 30 turned to 32 and then I bled again with premature labor. I was given terbutaline from week 32 until week 35 and delivered a healthy baby boy at 7 lbs 14 oz August 1, 2006 via c section week 38. My OBS stated my placenta was "the worst placenta he has ever seen since practicing medicine." Please pray and take care of yourself. Believe GOD for your baby! I quoted scriptures the entire pregnancy. Blessings to all of YOU!
