Subchorionic Bleeding

To Jenifer. Thanks for responding to my post. I am sorry to report this but I lost my baby on Sunday. It is very difficult. The doctor said that I can still have a normal pregnancy after this but I am scared. They said I can try again in 3 months. They also said that the subchorionic bleed may not have been the major problem that caused it. My progestorone was dropping despite the progestorone supplements I was taking. Something was just not working right. I seen the baby on the ultrasound on Wednesday and it was moving around. I went for another ultrasound on Friday and the baby was doing fine. Two days later I lost it. I will probably try after the 3 month time frame. I wish everyone the best of luck with their pregnancys.

Julie and Ann, I am so sorry for your loss and I will pray for the both of you.

Just wanted to let you all know my good news and give you hope that things will work out. I have been on strict bedrest for over a month now with a sch that was twice the size of the baby. During that time, my progesterone levels dropped to an extremely low level and I had severe cramping and contractions. I went to the Dr. today and was told that there was barely a trace of the sch. She did not even measure it. She also told me that I could return home to the USA in ten days. (I have been in South Korea and was unable to fly due to sch). I hope that others will have good news as well and I wil continue to pray for all of you.

mindy and ann the same thing happened to me. At 5 weeks i had spotting and was told not to worry as very common. at 7 weeks while in cyprus i had one small spot on underwear. at 9 weeks i started getting brown discharge and went to dr's again they ordered u.s this time. Had u/s and saw my baby with a healthy heartbeat and a bleed! They didn't tell me how significant the bleed was and said should be fine go home and come back in 2 weeks for another u/s. So i went and waited brown discharge changed to pink blood but such a small amount. Told dr i was told not to worry as I'd seen H/B. A few days before my follow up scan i started bleeding with no pain phoned hospital and was told they couldn't do u/s until monday (this was fri afternoon) and rest as it's prob just the blood clot busting and is common don't panic. On the sunday I lost my baby! I had no help from the dr's whatsoever. I feel angry and since it's happened people have asked if they checked hormons etc but they did nothing, could my baby still be inside me if they had have looked after me? I was 11 weeks. I am so devastated as is my 5 year old and husband! I hope some of you ladies have better luck xxx

I am now 7 1/2 weeks pregnant due on 5/13/06 and started to bleed or spot in week 5, I got an u/s and found a gestational sac looking normal. A week later I woke up to some spotting and decided to take it easy and lay down, as soon as I got up a felt a bit of a gush and found dark red blood had stained my panties, of corse in a panic I went to the ER sure I was losing my baby. To my surprise there was my little one with a strong heart beat and looking perfect. I was called later and told that they had found a "tiny" subchorionic bleed on my u/s. I was relieved to hear that it was on the bottom of my uderus no where near my baby and only 1cm. I was informed that this was little or no risk to me or my baby, but after reading about so many other stories I am terrified. I just feel doomed. I personally cant wait to get to that magical 12 week point but now I feel like that dosent even make a difference. I could really use some words of encouragment from anyone who has been through this and made it. Thank you all for listening.

Apryl, I had a similar experience but I had two bleeds, I am now 15 weeks pregnant....and my 1st bleed has been resolved and hopefully next week I will find that my second is resolved....Take it easy, plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, NO strenuous activity, do not life over 10 lbs and NO s_x....Hopefully you should be fine!

Apryl - September 23

Jessica- Thank you so much for writing I am so glad to hear that things are fine for you. I would love to continue to hear of you progress. My doctor never really gave me too many precautions besides the no s_x thing, thank you for the other advice! Its so rea__suring to know that there are others that ARE getting past this. I was feeling so discouraged kind of like waiting for the ball to drop. Not allowing myself to celebrate this pregnancy because of the fear it would soon be gone.

I am 13 weeks pregnant today. I have had 2 bleeds so far. The first one, the doctor did an u/s (about 9 weeks along) saw nothing and told me all was fine, go about normal lifestyle. At 12 weeks, I had another bleed, went in for an u/s and they found a large SCH. They put me on baby aspirin and said no s_x. I was wondering if anyone has been told to go on bedrest? I am a little concerned about llifting my 13 month old child. Any information would be appreciated. I am kind of in the blind on all of this.

Shannon - September 26

Like I explained to April....I was put on bedrest following the the 2 bleeds for 1 week, and on light duty until they had been resolved....no s_x, no stress, no heavy lifting....

apryl to shannon - September 26

I feel the same way as you. I have a 16 month old and a 4 year old and I am so confused about holding them, picking them up ect. The doctors seemed really unconcerned about my bleeding, I was told it was tiny and I was no big deal, no follow up no nothing. As I have read about others I am becoming much more concerned about this condition. I didnt know that these bleeds could continue or get worse. I havent been to the doctor in two weeks and my next appointment is not until the 11 of next month and I kind of feel like they should give me another u/s to see if it has grown or diminished. I still spot almost everyday. Usually only noticable when I wipe. So I am feeling really in the dark. I count each that that I am still pregnant a blessing. I hope you will share any new information you recieve with those of us who also feel very much in the dark about this.

Jessica - September 26

Apryl, Sorry to add more confusion but you will also spot while your body in trying to heal itself....Only cause for great concern is Red Blood (fresh blood) and heavy bleeding

Shannon - September 27

Apryl, It is nice to hear someone else is feeling the way that I am. I feel like I was kind of brushed off at the doctor and I don't have another appointment until Oct 13th and it is with a different practicing doctor at the firm. I am wondering how he will deal with this. Will he brush me off also? Who knows. I am going to demand to know more this time. The last doctor told me that if I were to start bleeding again, then call, and I go for another u/s. Me bleeding only happened while I was in the restroom and wiped. The red anyway. After that it was just brown ( i guess dried blood) for about 2-3 days. But the u/s showed a spot that wrapped around the sac about a third of the way. The u/s lady said it was pretty significant. I am scared to death to go and pee especially if I am feeling any pressure at all in my lower parts. If I see more blood, I am going to scream:) I am upset with the doctors because I feel like they didn't take my situation very seriously and I do because a living, healthy, heart beating baby is inside me fighting to grow. My mother and sister-in-law are convincing me to stay off my feet as much as possible, but I don't want to neglect my 13 mo old. She needs me also. Can we women not just stretch ourselves a little further?

CC - September 27

I am 17 wks right now and have been diagnosed with a sch at 6 weeks and then a scb at 15 wks. After the first scare I stopped bleeding the same day, but since the gush I experienced at 15 wks I haven't stopped bleeding. It is so depressing knowing that there is such a high chance that I may lose my child this far along. They tell you you're safe after 12 weeks but that is a bunch of bull cause I know 2 women who lost children after 20 weeks due to the same thing. This doctors are slackers and need to take this a lot more serious as if it were them or one of their loved ones. I want to know if anyone has made it into the third trimester with this problem??? Please, desperately looking for answers!!!

SharonF - September 27

Hi everyone, I feel sorry that everyone is going through this. If you read my previous posts, I am going through this as well , but in a foreign country. I got the ok to come home on Oct. 5th I can't wait. I wanted to tell all of you that are not on bed rest, that I am a firm believer that it helped me. Both my Doctor in Korea and my Doc at home suggested it. My Koeran Doc explained to me why she thinks it helps. Bacically, she said that my sac was more than 50% detached from my uterus. The sch was 2x's the size of te baby at one point. They don't know how it got detached, but they do know that is why I bled in the uterus. She also said that the sch acts like a scab. If you move around, it would be like picking a scab too early and causing it to bleed. They found mine on Aug. 22, during an ultrasound and it had doubled by the 25th. They sent me to bed and I was there for a month. When I went back on Sept. 21st, it was virtually gone. Too small to measure. The good ting is that I never bled or spotted. Can you believe it? the thing was huge and wrapped more than 1/2 way around the baby' s sac. I know it is difficult for some of you to be on bed rest, but I do think that it plays a part in the healing process. I have heard many people say that their doctor says that if a miscarriage is supposed to happen before 12 weeks, then there is nothing that can prevent it, But I was given a 50% chance to carry the baby. I really feel that Bed rest helped. For those of you with other children, I know it must be so difficult, I am lucky this is my 1st. But try to see if you can get some help. And if you are less than 12 weeks have your progesterone level checked, mine was extremely low and progesterone is what prepares the uterus to carry the baby. I did not find out how low mine was until week ten and thats when I started pills. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to let you know my story. I pray that my little one and I get home safe and that everyone finds themselves in better spirits.

WW - September 28

I have recently been diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed @ 6wk 5days. Scared to death to go to the bathroom. A bit let down that drs didn't prescribe bed rest. Bleeding slows when i'm laying down, but I was told there is nothing I can do at this point. Baby has a heartbeat and I'm going back Oct 8 for another u/s, or as I was told, to see if the heart is still beating. I am having a very hard time with this. Have had a miscarriage, ectopic, and went through 3 ivf cycles for this pregnancy. its hard for me to be happy because I'm so used to bad news. Will stay on my face with prayer.... Good luck to you all and may God continue to bless you.
