I'm 9 wks along and also have a subchorionic hematoma which has been making me bleed every weekend since 5 wks. I go see my ob tonight and I'm scared. The last two ultrasounds which were at 6 wks and 7 wks showed a strong heartbeat and great growth but I am so scared that they are going to tell me that I lost this little blessing. This is my 4th pregnancy and the other 3 were so easy with no spotting and bleeding. Please keep me in your prayers also and I'll do the same for you. God Bless!!

Sue - I hope all goes well for you - do let us know how you get on.
By the way, I did share your concerns as I have an 8 mth old daughter who I carry and pick up all the time and housework/shopping etc. I was never on any form of rest and it dodn't affect the SCH or level of bleeding at all. In fact, my heaviest bleeding was when I was on bed rest in hospital!

Just wanted to post a happy one for people who are worried. I had a rather large s.h. diagnosed by bleeding at 6 weeks. I took 3 weeks off of my exercise routine but did no bedrest and continues life as normal with 3 year and 19 month old sons. Now, at 12 1/2 weeks s.h. is just about gone and all is good with baby. Never had bleeding again after episode but wanted people to know that it can go away!
Best of luck to all.

I just wanted to update. Everything looked good with the baby last night. I went in for my prenatal appt. and told my doctor that I wasn't sure if I was pregnant because over the weekend I had a bad bleed. They pulled me into the ultrasound room and I saw my little one waving at me and jumping around. My hematoma was still there although they could not measure it because there was still alot of blood that was covering it. This is my fourth pregnancy but I feel like it is my first. I took my other pregnancies for granted because they went so well. My eyes are so much more open to watching how this baby grows inside me (It is so awesome and amazing!!). With this I am not only confronted with the reality of God but His underserving goodness to me. Take care and God Bless!!

Hi everyone,
An update - had an ultrasound this morning to check growth of baby with hematoma and baby is growing really well, is above average so no problem with that. also found out we are expecting a BOY!
The hematoma is still there but is a lot thinner. The sonographer even said it looked like there was very little or no blood in there and it was like flaps of skin left. Does this make any sense to anyone??!
Thanks for all your support, will keep updating.

Congratulations Kathryn - that's great news. That's lovely to have a boy so you'll have one of each. Our baby was hiding at the scan so couldn't tell the s_x but we're very happy with either. Did they do a v____al scan too to check for premature birth? My hospital did that at 21 weeks. I'm moving out of London to Saffron Walden in 3.5 weeks and I'm stopping work then for a year - can't wait. Just started my third trimester yesterday - such a relief! Best wishes. Justine

Hi Justine, no they didn't do v____al scan but my consultant has said that I am at risk of premature labour but we shall see. How lovely stopping work for a year - I'm still on maternity leave with Rosie, so glad I don't have to go to work!

Update: I was at the specialist office yesterday and good news the Hematoma is gone. I am currently at 24 weeks 5 days so hang in there everyone. My Hematoma was really big to and the doctors that it would remain there the entire pregnancy. But God stepped in and said no it's not. Also it's a BOY! The specailist wants to keep seeing me though to make sure no other problems come up. There is Hope for us all. Try not to stress over it to much because I know I did when I didn't understand it. Most of the time it all works out for the good. Talk to you all later for another update.

Thanks to all you wonderful ladies who have taken the time to share your sch experiences. I am 41 (old!) and at 39 had an IUGR baby (my first) that I was told was linked to my "heart-shaped" uterus. After a miscarraige last fall(told it was a chromosome problem - baby never developed a heartbeat and died at 5-6 weeks), we got pg again, only to have a sch found by v____al scan at 6 weeks. I was immediately put on light activity and 400 mg prometrium per day. My Doctor said my progestrone level should be over 25 to ensure the best uterine environment possible for the baby. I'm at 10.5 weeks now, baby is growing and sch is still there - just has changed shape somewhat. My bleeding has ranged from nothing to light to short medium bursts. My doctor places much emphasis on NOT WORRYING and having peace of mind, so if I want a weekly scan I can have one (I do of course!). I was told that 16 weeks is somewhat of a milestone to reach - has anyone else heard that? This is truly an exercise in doing what one can and then "letting go", as worry can only stress out the body and baby. Best wishes to all of you!

Hello, I wrote in back in January with the largest SCH my doctor had ever seen, and not much hope. Today, I;m 8.5 months pregnant with a healthy baby girl. By and large, rest and good advice is key in this situation. I;m not sur eof the measurements of my clot, but I know it was very large in comparisan to the baby at the time. And here I am Fat and happy -
I wish you all well - just wanted to put some good news on the board.

Sonja - well done hun, glad you have made it so far.
Paula - sorry you have been diagnosed with this but I am currently 21 weeks and had/have a large SCH. Never been on any form of rest, got on with my life (apart from when I was bleeding - which was a lot up until week 14) and now alrthough the SCH seems to be there and is the same length etc, the depth isn't there so it means there's little or no blood left in it. Yet to see my consultant but I am thinking it has basically healed. Maybe your doc means once you get to 16 wks your baby is so big that the hematoma doesn't matter? I have heard this for 20 weeks.
Take care of yourself and your doc is so right in not worrying. I hear much, much more success stories than unsuccessful stories.

Sonja - Congratulations on getting so far. You must be due soon. I had a ma__sive hematoma too and am now 27 weeks due 8th Nov. Paula - I was told 12 weeks was a milestone to reach, my doctor said it was rare for anything to go wrong after that.

Chrisy I had Subchorionic Hematoma during my last pregnancy at 10 weeks with no bleeding and by 13 weeks it had disappeared. The less or no bleeding the better. Just listen to your MD and try not the stress. Good Luck and take it easy.

Justine! So good to hear from you and that things are going well. Congrats on being done with work for a year. How fun!! Sonja- Thank you for sharing your encouraging story. It's great that you have gone so far and will soon hold your baby in your arms after this long ordeal. What a blessing! I hope to get that far along and not have any premature labor like they are worried about. Kathryn- Yeah! A Boy!! Congrats to you! Boys are so much fun. I know many women that are having boys by the end of the year, me included. Paula- I also heard 16 weeks or 20 weeks is a milestone but most importantly that as soon as baby is bigger than the sch the risk goes down dramatically. Try not to worry-that is the ticket, although it's hard not to. The further along I got (now 24 weeks) and the weekly scans sure did wonders for my peace of mind. My bleed is still there but shrinking with no spotting for the last 51/2 weeks. Best wishes to you. This sight has been a blessing to me, keep checking in to let us know how you are doing-Okay? Mindy- I like you had textbook pregnancies the first four times and was totally thrown when they told me I had a sch at 8 weeks. I had not even heard of those or anyone who had one. It was very scary. Yes-God is abundant in his blessings. Try to find peace and take one day at a time. Keep us updated too! Jeanne- Thank you for sharing! I hope to have my sch disappear too. How fun to have a boy! I like too many boys names so we are having a hard time picking one. We have it down to five choices...:) Good luck to all! Sabrina 24 weeks and counting...

I have a question. I'm trying to determine if I’m going to go straight to an amnio (I’m +35) or do the preliminary blood testing (our hospital call is ADH) for chromosome problems. Does anyone have any insight into whether or not a hematoma would impact the blood test results (I've heard differing opinions). Thanks (I'm 12 wks, last bleeding at 7, "appears" to be resolving).
