Jenn, I felt the same way. I spotted for three and a half weeks after my huge bleed. A few times I had bright red but only a small amount. Sometimes the spotting was heavier than others. I was terrified everytime I went to the washroom. But the last week I have not had any spotting. My hematoma is still there but has not grown. I figure it will probably just hang out until the baby is born. At this point it is so small compared to the baby it is doing no harm. Also, he/she has not been affected. It has been 5 weeks and all growth measurements are right on track. It is amazing how strong they are when they are so small. My OBS told me that he has had many women who bleed all the way through and have healthy babies. I know it is hard, but the best thing to do is try not to worry too much. The more we stress, the more the baby is stressed. Easier said than done : ) If only I could take my own advice. Lynn 19+5

I have been following this site now for a week and a 1/2. Some of your stories have been very rea__suring. I was diagnosed on Aug. 22nd with a subchorionic hematoma. Unlike many of you, I have not had any bleeding. I am an American currently in South Korea on business. My husband and I have a big magic and illusion show that we travel with. We did not plan this pregnancy while here, but we were extremely happy when we found out. The Doctor's here in Korea seem to be pretty well educated. They did my 1st ultrasound when I was only 4 weeks. I went back for a routine checkup on the 22nd when I was 7 + 4 weeks, thats when they found the hematoma. The Dr. said that it was only a blood clot and not to worry, however when I told her that I wanted to fly home in the next couple of weeks, she told me that she did not advise it. I called my ob at home and she told me to fax all of my paperwork home to her in the states. She advised the same thing and told me that I should get a RhoGam shot because I have A - blood and my husband is O+. I went back to the Dr. here in Korea on Thurs. the 25th, they did another ultrasound and said the the hematoma grew. They gave me the RhoGam and a shot a Progesterone. The Dr. said that I should go on full bed rest and that I had a 50/50 chance of continuing the pregnancy. I still have had no bleeding and I am going crazy in wishing that I was home with the support of family. My husband and I really want this child, it is our 1st. He is being very supportive but it is hard considering he still has to continue performing. Does anyone think that since I have not bleed yet that it is a good sign? I go back on Sept. 5th for another ultrasound and they hope that it will reabsorb. I really want to tell my parents that I am pregnant, however they will freak out because they will be so worried. I don't want to worry them, so I have opted not to tell them. Sorry this is so long, but I am homesick and scared. I really want to get home to the states but I have to wait it out.

Hi all,
I wish you all the very best with your pregnancies. I have had two babies, both pregnancies presented with a large SCH at 6 wks gestation -- 7 cm in diameter. My third pregnancy was not so lucky, the baby died at 12 weeks since the clot prevented blood flow and oxygen to the fetus. I will have a D and C, and most likely am done having children. I have two healthy ones that survived the SCH situation -- I think God is telling me something with this loss.

Hi everyone. Just an update. I initially was diagnosed with a SCH of about 6 cm 2 weeks ago (10W) was recently at the hospital due to another major "rush" of bright red blood. The ultrasound found that the baby was fine and the SCH was the same size. I just went this morning for a follow-up U/S and unfortunately, the found a SECOND SCH. This one is also pretty big: 7.5 x 4 x 2.5. I was devastated. Luckily, neither one is touching the placenta, but they are pretty close. There really isn't much room to play with anymore. Has anyone heard of having 2 hematomas?! I'm a basket case! I don't know how I'll sleep, I have no appet_te... I just can't stop worrying! I have another U/S in 2 weeks, but until then... I don't know what I'll do with myself. Of course, I'm on bedrest, which I guess makes it even harder.... Has anyone ever heard of having 2 SCHs and continuing with a successful pregnancy?? I hope that everyone is doing well! Sorry, I'm a little frazzled today.

This is to Jasmine. Sorry to hear about the 2nd sch. If you read through the other posts on this page, a couple of other people have had 2. I think that is good that they are not touching the placenta. Try to rest and do things to keep your mind off it. I feel the same way, like I am going crazy and it is just a waiting gamenag in there.

Jasmine - sorry you are going thru this. Yes, I had two SCH's at one point. Both large. One was as my consultant put it, 'in the worst possible place' I bled almost continuously until 14 weeks of this pregnancy. My bad SCH started high in the womb in the fundus and spread roght round both sides of the sac thus threatening to bring baby out with it. I must have a fighter as baby has stayed out as I am now 24 weeks. Also my baby was only 3.5 mths when I fell pregnant (SCH) again so I couldn't be an any bed rest and more or less got on with my life as I had a baby to look after as well as the one in my tummy. Very stressful, 'am I doing the right thing' etc but it was fine. Here in UK our docs don't seem to put ua on bed rest as they do not believe it does any good so my point is, I had two SCH's - one in worst possible place all around baby's sac, had to look after a baby at home, did not do any bed rest and I am now 24 weeks and baby is kicking away and I am having a normal pregnancy. Last ultrasound showed just one SCH and there was hardly any depth to it meaning the blood just isn't there. Please take heart from my story.
Take care,
Kathryn x

Hello,
Im so glad I found this site. I also have a SCH and I am so freaked I can't even enjoy this pregnancy. My SCH is between the two sacs not touching anything yet but it did get bigger from last week. Im seeing an RE and they monitor every week, we discovered this at almost 6 weeks and Im 8 now. I really hope it gets smaller, Im also on prog shots which are painful but I'll so whatever it takes. Does anyone know if these things get smaller after time? Is it worse to get this early in the pregnancy?

Hi ladies, quick update. I had my peri appt on Tuesday (30th). to my dismay I did not have an ultra-sound which was rather disappointing. The doctor said they normally don't do them frequently this early and since the bleeding has stopped he is not concerned. I did hear the hearthbeat but it took them about 40 secs to find it which felt like an hour. The heartbeat was between 150 and 155. I am measuring fine and everything appears to be good. My second level ultrasound is scheduled for sept 21st. I can't wait. I will be 16 weeks on Monday. I hope everyone is keeping well and hanging in there. Lots of love to you all. Donna Xo

Hello ladies,
I was told there was a sac of blood on my uterus last week at my u/s I am a__suming it is a sub chronic hemorrhage/hematoma. My baby's heart rate was 121 but was measuring 6 days less then it should have. I go back Wednesday for another U/S and to check to see if the baby has grown. Does anyone have any experience with the baby measuring smaller and being ok with the hematoma?

Hello everyone. Hope that you are all doing ok. I went for a follow- up ultrasound today and got to see the baby. The baby is fine and has a strong heartbeat. The blood clot has stayed the same though. It is still bigger than the baby, but has not increased. It is on the edge of the placenta, so my dr. wants me to stay in bed for 2 more weeks. the Dr. seemed optomistic that I should be able to fly home to the states in early Oct. I hope that that is the case. I really want to be home and safe.

Well I was diagnosed with two subchronic bleeds at 12 weeks. Doctors dont tell me anything and said I will probably continue to bleed which may cause me to loose pregnancy. I am scared and know that being stressed does not help matter. They did sonogram and baby is fine and as well as the development of the baby. I am have some discomfort in my uteras area and dont know if Im being paranoid because of the problems. I have bled heavy twice and both only last about 15 to 20 minutes. then turning to spotting and later that evening pa__sing blood clots which doctor says it could have been dried blood.

If I can give some of you hope. I have a hematoma.Have had bright red blood since 14 weeks anb still bleeding. Been in and out of hospital, had numerous scans, and am now 24 weeks+2 days. At my last scan at 22 weeks, it showed that my baby is perfect, the correct size for dates. I have to return for another scan at 26weeks.I have midwife visiting me daily to listen for baby's heartbeat. All is well. My doc says that if there are any changes at 26 weeks he will admit me to hospital and monitor me. He said he will deliver but not until after 28weeks. There have been so many times I have thought the hematoma has won, but to date, it has not. You have to stay positive, and believe that all will turn out well.
