I went to the ER last Friday for bleeding and cramping and they said that it was a subchorionic bleed. I didn't get to see the ultrasound from the ER but visted my doctor on Tuesday and in the ultrasound it looked like there was an entirely separate sack (similar to the one my baby is in) in my uterus. Just wondering what your ultrasounds looked like? The doctor concured that it was fluid in my uterus but I'm wondering if it's really a subchorionic bleed or something else?

I'm so glad to have found this forum. I had bleeding at 12 weeks and was diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed. They put me on bedrest, but I continued to have bleeding off and on for the next week. Finally the bleeding stopped. 4 weeks later I had an u/s to check on the hemorrhage and it was bigger and there were 2, which my doctor said is very unusual (this was at almost 16 weeks). I recently had a level II u/s (19 weeks) and the hemorrhage is still very present and very size-able. I am wondering if there are others who have dealt with a bleed their entire pregnancy and what it meant for them. Can I still hope to go full-term? Are my chances for abruption increased? I know these next weeks are the critical ones for the baby, since she is not "viable" until at least 24 weeks-- which is 5 weeks from now. I have been on bedrest for 7 weeks now and will continue as long as necessary. My doctor said it's very unusual for the bleeds to not be absorbing by this point in the pregnancy, which of course freaked me out.

I bleed 4 times very badly early in my pregnacy. I went to the ER each time and they said threatened miscarrige. The 4th time I was hermoraging and thought I might loose to much blood. They did an u;/s and found an SCH. That was 11 weeks. I was put on bed rest and saw a specialist, a perinatolgist. I was ordered bed rest until 16 weeks. At 16 weeks because my bleeding had stopped I was allowed back to work. I am checked every month because my hematoma is still there. It is 2cm. I am now 27 weeks pregnant with a healthy boy. It is hard and scary but time will go by. My hematoma is still here, but not actively bleeding. I hope I make it 11 more weeks till my c-section. Good luck.

I am 39 preg with 1st child- 14 weeks. I bled 10 days ago then it stopped- I was soo relieved-NOW I am bleeding bad- brown or dark red- sometimes it streams out of me when I'm urinating. On top of that I wear a pad and bleeding now as much as I would if it was my period. I was diagnosed yes with SCH- it is outside the sac and is pretty big- look like it is right next to babys face. They said as long as It doesn't move near placenta it gets absorbed It will be okay- my treatment- light activity & pelvic rest. I am going to be my own advocate and going to call a dr from a boston who specializes in fetal and maternal medicine. they tell me the baby is fine- however he/she didn't move much when I saw him on the ultrasound-not sure if normal. I prescribed myself bedrest! My cuz gave me some good advice-ask others for help- if your on bedrest- don't be afraid to ask someone to help with cleaning, cooking etc. thank you for all your stories. I hope everyone the best!

I am hoping that this thread will become a little more active. I am 15 weeks and have been told I have a substantial bleed behind my placenta. I had a major bleeding episode at 12 weeks and have been spotting brown and red ever since. I am on partial bed rest right now and have been told I have a 30% chance of miscarriage. I have been really tired and my stomach is tender so I try and stay in bed as much as possible. If anyone else is monitoring this board and would like to chat please respond to my post. I would love to speak to others going through this. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and am hoping to get another sonigram so I can see if the bleed has improved. The waiting is so difficult!

hi bpack, I'm really interested on how your situation goes since I am also 15 weeks and going thru a terrible bleed. I have been bleeding for 9 days and finally it's coming or came to an end. Like you tomorrow I go for another u/'s to see how it's going. I hope you will consider posting everything and all that happens. I will do the same. If you know other sites like this please let me know.

my u/s showed my Sch went from 9cm to 5cm x 1cm. My bleeding has stopped and the baby is fine. They tell me the Sch has not affected the placenta. I'm 15wks and 3days.

Hello. I am 9 wks pg and this past week at my 8 wk appt we found out that I have a SCH. We saw and heard the h/b and looks like all is well with my little bean. The baby measured 1cm by 3 cm and the sch measured 1cm by 2cm. I am NOT bleeding or spotting and was wondering if anyone else had this situation, or could tell me when they first started to bleed, and will I spot, or bleed heavy when I do start to bleed??? I have another u/s on the 20th to check the size of the sch. I hope this isn't going to affect my baby. I lost a little boy at 14 1/2 wks pg on May 31 and I am now pg again. I don't think I can handle two losses in a row. It will just break my heart!

sheebean great news on your scan. I will be sure to share my updates as I progress. I am around 17 weeks right now. My last ultrasound showed that things were the same which I was told is good. As long as the bleed does not continue to spread under the placenta I should be ok. Over the past few weeks the bleeding and spotting stopped and I began feeling much better. I have been slowly increasing my activity level since then. Unfortunately, I had intercourse a few days ago and that has caused brown spotting to begin again. I am hoping it is old blood from before and will stop soon. In any case, I won't be doing that again. I am putting myself back on pelvic rest and partial bed rest for the next few weeks. I am hoping I didn't mess things up.

Hi oncemore. As far as I know there are one of two things that will happen with your bleed. It will either begin to break up and disolve which will cause external bleeding or it will be absorbed into the lining of the uterus. If the second option happens you may see no blood at all. With the first option, you may have very light bleeding over time or heavy bleeding with clots all at once. There is no way to tell. Sorry I don't have a better answer than that. My experience with this has taught me to listen to my body. If I am feeling off or tired, I do as little as possible and try to stay in bed. I believe this helps even if you are not bleeding. Good luck to you. Please let us know how things turn out.

Hi Bpack, i have been on pelvic rest since 11 weeks I am now 16 weeks 3 days. It's been about 3 days with no spotting. Since I wasn't bleeding I was thinking I would cheat but we didn't. If I had a choice between baby and s_x I would pick baby. This will be my first !

Hi there. Thank you for all your help. Sheenbean, I agree....baby before s_x (at least it works out this way now, lol)... This is so different for my dh and I as this is my 5th pg, and I have never had "pelvic rest", well, except for when I was on bed rest with my 1st child at 30 weeks... took myself off of bed rest at 36 weeks (preterm labor issues). I am currently on pelvic rest and light activity with no lifting anything heavy (haha... I have a 15 mo old toddler).. but I am trying to take it easy. I am 10wks4days today and had another u/s due to some seriously painful cramping and light spotting a couple of times...once pink and once brown. Today, my babybean was moving all over the place and hb was 173! My SCH split and now there is a tiny one on one side, and then the main bleed on the other side of the sac. The good news is that 2wks ago the sch was measuring at 2.4 cm at the biggest part and today it was measuring at 1.6! so that is good! I just worry that there are two of them now. But I haven't gotten any major bleeing... just alot of really bad cramps/pain when I do "too much"...so then I lay down and that seems to help. I go for another scan and ob appt next Tuesday. (Todays appt was just because I was having sooo much pain and a little spotting). BPACK- you take it easy with the bow chicka bow wow girl! Don't want anymore bleeding. Glad to hear that the sch hasn't grown. ugh...when do they ever go away? I hope yours goes away very soon... you are getting close to the 20 week mark! Good luck to you girls. Lets keep each other posted on this stuff. Thanks so much, it's nice to have someone to relate with!

I should say that my last pg was lost at 14 1/2 weeks. I only have 3 kids currently and hopefully this will be #4 and done! How about your girls? Any kids? What are their ages?

Well, I have had a really rough few days. Two days ago I was spotting brown and that night I had two huge gushes of blood. It was horrible. I decided to wait it out instead of going to the hospital and the bleed slowed down. I went to the doctor yesterday and the baby is still doing well. An ultrasound showed a small increase in the SCH but nothing significant. They don't know what happened. The doctor said she didn't think it was related to the s_x since 48 hours pa__sed before I bled. Even so, I feel like it was a mistake. Anyway, back on total bed rest for a few days and NO s_x! This is such a roller coaster ride. I am glad I can talk with others who are going through the same thing.

oncemore I have two boys. One is almost 3 and the other is almost 5. I just found out that we are having another boy! Although I am a little disapointed that it is not a girl, at least I know what is coming. We know boy! I don't know if I will get pregnant again after this if the baby makes it. It has been so stressful. Besides, we will probably have our hands full with 3 kids. If the baby does not make it, I know I will want to try again. I would not want a tragedy to be my last memory of being pregnant. I know how wonderful it can be.
