melissa, (update) i met with my doctor yesterday and they did another ultrasound. the said it all looked good and i am now 13 wks preg. and we found out its a boy, but there is still a huge sac of blood right outside the placenta. i have however stopped bleeding and they said that is a good sign. but im still at risk to im still on bed rest. i asked the doc why there are no answers anywhere and what and what and all that.he said cause science has no answer they dont know why this happens and how to prevent it or heal it. its just time and rest and up to god. which didnt make me feel any better of course. so now i go back in 2 wks for another scan and they want to do an amniocentisis. which is scary also cause there are great risk involved with that. i think the best thing we can do is rest, stay positive, get lots of help and support from our loved ones and pray. and know that god has a plan for everything weather we agree with it or not well thats another story. i hope you visit goes well for you monday and that your baby will be fine. best of luck

iam expecting twins (girls) they are on 2 diffrent sacs but it looks like their are sharing the same placenta and yesterday i had an ultrasound and the doctor said they look healty babies but to come back on 2 weeks to check the fluid on one baby because it looks like one has less water is it normal if i drink alot of water can it help iam 19 weeks pregnant

Nancy - I think you're having identical twins. I don't think you can increase the fluid around the baby by drinking more but drinking a lot is good for babies - at least 8 gla__ses a day with twins.

Had 15 week 6 day midwife appointment yesterday and everything is fine - heard heartbeat, no infections and no protein/sugar in urine. Just had 2 small brown bleeds (clot) since big red bleed at week 12. Am very nervous about this week (16) as I think my bleeding is period bleeding and comes every 4 weeks - we'll see this weekend. Hope everyone is OK.

Hi everyone... I starting having brown discharge at 5 weeks. At 5.5 weeks, I had a small gush of red blood. Since then, I have gone back to brown discharge. I am now 8.5 weeks and I still have daily brown discharge, yet it seems to be slowly disappearing - I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The doctor contacted me today & said I have a small subchorionic Hematoma (1.5cm x 0.7cm), which has been causing the bleeding. I had never heard of this condition before and I'm glad I've found this message board to read up on similar stories. This is my second pregancy - my first was a breeze. Of course, I a__sumed things would go well the second time around but surprise, surprise! My doctor does not seem to be overly alarmed & he says that he doesn't feel that I'm at an increased risk for miscarriage than the next person. In any event, my body is telling me to slow down. I simply feel that I should rest as much as possible - which can be hard with a 2.5 year old and a full-time job as a Junior High Teacher. ONE QUESTION: If bleeding stops, does that usually indicate a decreased or vanished hematoma? Good luck to all of us!!

hello, well my appt went well babys still there. But she said I have an irregular shaped amniotic sac and she is concerned that the baby might be trying to separate, so now I am on 2 weeks full time "bed arrest" thats how it feels really. My bleeding has increased so much and this morning at 530 I pa__sed a ping pong sized thing I fished it out of the toilet. it was huge. I am going to show it to my doctor. My first baby was soooo easy, no problems no sickness, I even went to Disneyland and went on all the rides at 5 months, now this all the problems in the world (to me) I know it could be worse. I am so discouraged and bitter I wanted this baby so badly. Maybe a little too much.

I have a hematoma also was told at 5 weeks when I had some bleeding. Was ok up until 7 weeks and woke up in the middle of the night soaked with blood but much to my surprise everything was ok. I am now 14 weeks and baby is growing strong. No more problems so far and my doctor says the hematoma is slowing getting smaller. Hang in there everyone.

I am eight weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a subchronic hematoma. the doctor said it was dangerous because it is where the umbilical cord jions the uterus. anyone have any experince wtih this?

Kristin - June 1

I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. When I first went in (7weeks pregnant) the hematoma was about 4 cm, and I was put on bedrest. I stopped bleeding that day, then about 3 days later I bled a little, and it stopped again. It has been 10 days with no bleeding, but when I went in yesterday (9 weeks along) the hematoma was like 5 cm long, and probably 2cm wide, about the same size as the baby. I have read that the larger the more risk, has anyone experienced such a large hematoma and had a positive outcome?

Justine - June 2

Kristen - My clot was 4.8cm x 3.7cm at 9 weeks and attached to the baby - so slightly bigger than yours - I was terrified. But I didn't lose the baby and am now 17 weeks so there is hope. Hope it works out for you. Once you pa__s 12 weeks they say there's no problem so aim for then.

I wrote in twice around the end of April. Here are some updates. I had 2 or so days of spotting at week 5, 6, and 7. The nothing till week 9, again 2 days worth. I saw another healthy heartbeat sonogram at week 11, and I had 2 days of spotting the weekend of the start of week 12. My 2nd sonogram showed the hematoma at week 11, but it was very small compared to the baby and his/her sack. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying as I enter week 14 this coming Sunday. Whenever I had the spotting I would always take it easy, put my feet up and relax. I think it is important to remember that the uterus is so vascular and that the hematomas are constantly being supplied blood, and that is why we often continue to have bleeding. I hope all will be well for everyone, this is my first pregnancy and it has been scary weeks of spotting and worrying but in the end all worth it. I can't wait to meet my baby in early Dec!

I am noticing by your posts that a vast majority of you are spotting or bleeding w/ your SCH's. I am 9 weeks and was diagnosed just coincidentally on Wed. The Dr. was looking at the size of my cysts on my ovaries (I have 4), and noticed the hemorrage. I have not bled yet- he put me straight on bedrest for the next 2 weeks. No doing anything... no climbing stairs (to get to the 2nd story of my house), no driving, no church, nothing. I am cramping a little, but not enough to cause any concern. But I am wondering, is it a good thing that I am not spotting? Is my body reabsorbing the blood, or is the hemorrage just getting bigger and bigger and is going to burst anyday? I am high risk as it is since this is my 5th pregnancy, I've lost one baby, have 2 healthy boys, and my youngest is 3 years old w/ Turner Syndrome and multiple congenital heart defects. It is close to impossible being on bedrest w/ 3 kids (3, 5, and 7), but my dad came up from So. Cal. to take care of me while DH is at work. I hope it all works out and the 2 weeks does the trick! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi Kristin, I was diagnosed with a hematoma at 14 weeks. It was 8 cm x 4 cm and I went on complete bedrest and drank as much water as I could. About 10 days later, my ultrasound revealed that the hematoma shrunk to 3 cm x 1 cm. The baby is large and healthy. I am now at 16 weeks and my doctor said I could resume normal everyday activities but no exercise or lifting. His only concern at this point is that I may experience preterm labor and to start looking for signs in my 7th month. He also scheduled a follow up ultrasound for 20 weeks to check everything. Good luck and think positive - it really works!

hi everbody...here we all are sailing in the same boat...i am 7.1 wk preg..and was diagnosed with a sub chronic bleed of 5cm * 1cm...which is fairly large compared to the size of my baby...i started of with a little brown discharge at 4wks which became red at 5 wks for 2 days...they did'nt see the bleed on the u/s then...anyway the bleeding has gone back to brown since then, somedays nothing and somedays lots...i have been on complete bed rest for the last 2 weeks and dont know whether its helping...i have a 1.9yr old son which makes it so difficult...i dont know what to expect and am so depressed and help less...i guess its one day at a time for me...shall pray for every body.

I wish I had such positive stories to tell. but i don't. my appt. yeasterday was not good. what they thought was what you all have was not the case. it turned out I had developed a Molar Pregnancy, in which case the placenta goes crazy kills of the fetus and continues to grow, and if not cought soon enough it will spread to the rest of the body and then need to be treated with chemo. I had surgery this morning to remove it. Now my hormone levels have to remain at zero for a year to make sure it doesn't come back. it is so sad. my son walks around the house with his teddy and he calls it his baby sister, he loves it and feeds it, he is darling. but now we had to tell him that Jesus took the baby to live with Him, he seems okay with that. The best to all of you and not to worry your babies are strong and healthy. God bless

Justine - June 8

Melissa - I'm so sorry to hear that. I really hope they've caught it soon enough. It'll be hard to wait a year. I wish I could make it better. I really hope you can get through it in your own way and enjoy your son. Best wishes. Justine
