Today medical science has taken most of the risk out of giving birth. There was a time where mothers risked thier lives to have children, they still do in many parts of the world. In the developed world today the risk to a mothers life in minuscule, particulary among healthy women who recieve prenatal care. Even if your pregnancy is in a high risk category you are worrying with out reason labour and delivery have never been safer for women.
You can reduce the minimal risks by eating a healthy diet, exercising ( if docor gives his ok) Having lots of rest. And of course readding lots of info about pregnancy so that you know what signs to look out for.
Most women worry about the baby, the labour and the birth it is only natural and once our baby is born we will never stop worring about him or her it is just part of being a Mum. Take care.

Hi Lia - Nat's right on. (Nat is that YOU?). Depending on your body, you may bleed very little if (don't freak out) your v____a doesn't rip too much. In order to avoid this, the doctor will make a small cut (called an episiotomy) to lessen the bleeding and provide more room for the baby's head to get out (which is the hardest part - next to a long labor). You will also have some discharge after you give birth similar to a period. This is just the excess stuff you need to expell from your womb after the baby's born, all pretty normal. If you would just please try to take it one day at a time and not worry yourself too much over pre-supposed circ_mstances. If you do, you will rob yourself of a very enjoyable time that will pa__s quickly (being pregnant). I can certainly undestand your aprehensions. They came and went for me as well, to the point that my son finally came out and I'm like, is he breathing? Boy, what a sigh of relief when he let out that first cry. I would also express your concerns to your doctor and see what he/she can say that will comfort you. How far along are you, btw, and when's your due date? I wish you the best of luck and godspeed as you near the approaching birth of your child.
