I am 13 weeks pregnant and just went for an ultrasound where they test to see if the baby might have abnormalities. The doctors saw that the baby's nuchal was more than normal and the was a gap in the spinal cord. They then sent us for a second opinion where we got the same respond. They say they are 80-90% positive that the baby might have Turner's Syndrome and chances are it won't make it thru the pregnancy. We are now awaiting to go for the amniocenthesis which will confirm everything. I am just wondering if anybody out there has gone thru this and what the outcome was?

I have not had the same experience, but yet I can relate to you. We found out with my previous pregnancy that our little boy had holoprosencephaly and many more birth defects. They suspected trisomy 13 or 18, but the chromosomal studies showed that the chromosomes were normal. We decided to carry the pregnancy and just see what will happen. The doctors told me he will probably die in utero. He was born the day after Christmas by C-section. After the birth they did a lot of tests on him and all the prenatal diagnosis was confirmed. The doctors gave him no more that 48 hours to live. I was horrified. Benjamin lived for 6 weeks. We took him home, cause there was really nothing that could be done for him. Me and my husband are both nurses, so we were administering all the medications ourselves. We did however use hospice services. Benny flew back to Heaven 6 weeks after the was born. I am pregant again, had my ultrasound today and everything seems to be OK, but I am still worried.
I will pray for you, I know how hard it is. You can email me if you want: Dytbb@cox.net.
