Unfortunatley it's a common problem in newborns. While you are pregnant and up all day walking around the rocking of your hips lulls the baby to sleep and so most babies become active in the evening. I hate to say it, but you will proabably just have to bear it until she is a little older and has more waking time.. then try to keep her up for longer periods during the day. Try to rest when she rests, even if it's during the day... it can sometimes take a few months for babies to sleep a consistent 3 or 4 hrs in a night. It took my 1st child a year. Hang in there!

My daughter is now 5 weeks and is just now starting to sleep for two, to three hours at a time during the night.. It takes time, unfortunately.

My baby was like this too! The only thing that helped, and I can't swear it helped--might have just been that she got over it, was to wake her up to feed her eat least every two hours in the day time. It was hard because I was SO TIRED I was happy to let her sleep for a few hours, but I do think it helps her realize that daytime is for eating/playing and nighttime is for sleeping. I've also inst_tuted a bedtime routine (bath, jammies, etc at same time every night). When I first started she didn't necessarily comply, but over a couple of weeks it really seems to help! She's 8 weeks old now and I'm still doing both things. She now goes to bed with me and wakes up a couple times a night to eat, but goes right back to sleep. It does get better, but I'm so sorry for you--the not getting any sleep part was really, really hard!
