I'm 7 months postpartum and I have noticed that I have been losing a c__p ton of hair lately. My shower is stopped up with it and I have to clean out my hair brush every other day. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just going bald? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, I am almost 4 months postpartum. I have noticed myself losing a lot more hair, brushing, washing anything really. I also am finding that my hair on my legs and under arms is growing much faster... When I was pregnant I remember all hair growth basically stopped for me... I only needed to shave my legs once a week (prior to getting pregnant it was every other day).. now It is every day. Hope this helps... I have heard it to be perfectly normal..

I'm almost 5 months pp, and same here ladies........ my hair is clogging up the drain! My doctor said that it's probably because of the decrease in hormones, but it could also be because of my depo shot.

It's very normal to lose a lot of hair post partum, although I don't know if it's normal to lose so much that you seem to have less than before you were pregnant. The reason for the "normal" loss is that during pregnancy, your hormones keep your hair from falling out a little every day - something you did before you were pregnant that you probably didn't even notice. During post partum as you start to lose the pregnancy hormones, your body says, "time to shed all this hair we've been holding onto" and you lose 9 months worth of hair over a few months time. If you're getting really thin and bald, check with your doctor because you might have a different problem, like with your thyroid or another hormone imbalance. Thyroid problems are common during post partum and can cause hair loss too. I've heard that Evening Primrose supplements can help, but check with your doctor about taking something like this if you're b___st feeding.
