Nothing is wrong with either of you... Take a deep breath and relax. Realize you are going through the same hormonal changes you went through when you were first pregnant. Only now everything is going back to normal so you will feel "crazy" for a while and things will look worse then they really are. As far as your baby, if he is crying ALL the time, and is totally inconsolable, take him in to be seen. Colic usually is only during a certian time of the day, not usually all day. Refux can be an all day, more after a meal time thing....

Your ds sounds like mine used too. For the first 7 weeks of his life, he either slept or screamed. It was the worst! I finally took him to see a dr. and he was diagnosed with acid reflux and colic. He was not the typical reflux baby as he did not spit up and was gaining weight well. He would however arch his back during and after feeding and just wasn't consolable. He was put on zantac for the reflux and hyosciamine for the colic. The second drug is a tummy relaxer and was truly a miracle drug. After he got his meds, he was a good baby! My son is almost 5 months now and has outgrown the hyosciamine. He is a good baby for the most part now! You may want to check with your pediatrician. Know you aren't alone!

dear afwife,
first and foremost, I am not a doctor or nurse, but the advice I give to you is tried and true. You need to discuss these issues with your child's pcp. He or she could have gas, be lactose intolerant, have an ear infection, or simply not feel well. I would make an appointment as soon as possible, even if it is for your own peace of mind. Keep a daily log of how you feed your baby, what you feed your baby, your baby's napping hours, etc. My first child cried alot-she was jaundiced for a while, and could not handle my milk-so we had to put her on soy for a while. Also, try snuggling with your baby close to you. I know they say not to sleep in bed with your baby-but until your baby falls asleep, try holding him or her close and let your baby hear your heartbeat. Remember, that is the one thing they heard for 9 months-your natural scent and heartbeat are soothing to your child-once your baby is sleeping, make sure to put him or her COMFORTABLY in its crib or ba__sinet. Make sure your child's crib is clear of stuffed aimals and extra blankets as this can cause them to suffocate. Lay it on its belly, and, during the hot summer months, keep the garments he or she is wearing to a minimum, and cover him lightlywith a blanket.
Like I said, you need to consult your child' s doctor right away-call today and let him or her know exactly what is going on, and good luck to you!
