Smelly

Okay, this is really embarrasing. I delivered about 3 weeks ago. Im still having a light amount of discharge but now it is starting to smell really bad. I know I need to call doc and I will tomorrow but does anyone know what this might mean? I haven't had fever or anything that might indicate infection but who knows. I also had a 3rd degree tear and Im worried that maybe this is what is starting to smell. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

Could just be that the end of your bleeding is near. As my period nears its end, it sometimes has a smell. I'd still call your doc to be safe though.

Sounds like the start of a bit of infection. I don't think that you need to always have a fever to have an infection. Doesn't hurt to have your doctors opinion. YOu should really call though.:)

Thanks JJB and torbman- I really hate "guessing" and don't want to be one of those people that over-reacts to everything but I definitely don't want to just b__w off something major. Im not suppose to have my 6 week check up until the third week of september. I dread having to go in for a checkup already but gotta do it. I forgot today was labor day so nobody in office so I will definitely call tomorrow. Thanks again!!!!

Hi...I had the same thing happen to me about 2 weeks after delivering....no matter how clean I kept myself there was this awful odor! I called the doctor and the nurse there said that a foul odor is a sign of infection. So I went in and the doctor checked me out (which was VERY painful as I had a 4th degree tear). I had a little bacterial infection, BUT the doctor was expecting to find a gauze sponge inside of me. He said that from time to time when a woman delivers and has to be st_tched up (which took about an hour and a half with tons of st_tches) that sometimes a gauze sponge may be left inside and after a few weeks an odor develops. I didn't have a gauze sponge inside of me, just a bacterial infection....so I would go on into the doctor to see what the deal is. Its nothing serious, just needs some attention. My doctor prescribed me this one-time creme v____al insert and the very next day the smell was gone! Hope this helps!

Sorry it took me so long to follow up on this but everything was okay. I seriously thought they HAD left something in me because it was sooooo bad and disgusting. Doc said it was just old stuff and not to worry about it. It finally went away and no problems with my follow up exam. Thanks ladies!!
