If you are b___stfeeding, talk to your doctor about whether it is safe. Sometimes doctors will recommend the drug therapy anyway when the benefit outweighs the risk. Zoloft is considered safe while b___stfeeding.

I took Wellbutrin throughout my entire pregnancy and still am on it for PPD. My doc a__sured me that it doesn't cause any problems for the baby at all. I am on the 150mg XL and absolutely couldn't imagine being without it.

My dr put me on it while bf several years ago, but before taking it I asked the pharmacist and he said he wouldn't let his wife take it while bf. So, I didn't take it.

I realize this is an old thread but wanted to share anyway. My baby was born on 4/6/06 with (PPHN) Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension Of The Newborn. He was in critical condition & in NICU on complete life support for weeks. Thank God he fully recovered & came home with us on Sat. 4/29. I did some reading on PPHN http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pphn & sometimes PPHN is caused by using antidepressants DURING pregnancy. Well, because of my postpartum depression multiplied by the fact that my baby COULD possibly die ... (Whew … never said that out loud before!) ... my Dr. put me on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for the depression. That worried me because I was pumping & storing my b___st milk until he was able to start feeding. Keep in mind that the poor little guy couldn't even have tube feedings of my b___st milk until he was stabilized. At first he was on I.V. feeds only. Anyway, I double-checked with his primary NICU physician & he DID NOT have a problem with me using it … even though my baby would be b___stfeeding at some point. (And I’m happy to report that he is!)

Wellbutrin is great!! Virtually no side effects unless taken in extremely high dosages which is sometimes perscribed to people who are trying to quit smoking. The best thing about this anti depressant is that you will not only feel great, but you will probably even lose some weight while on it, which is excellent news for those of us who are post partum and trying to shed those extra pounds anyway.

Hi Sarit--I have been taking it for years, and I have had great success with it. My MD told me she would take it will bf. Of course, dose might be the issue, too, but I am a lifelong depressive and I have been using it for 12 years. It has been a gift.
