Hi i went for my 6 week checkup and i talked to my doctor about birth control....since i am br___tfeeding she only gave me three options....the 'mini' pill (br___tfeeding kind)....the shot and the implant (implanon)....i chose the mini pill as of right now but she wanted me to check into the implant (since i told her i didnt want anything to do with the shot because i have heard it makes you fat and moody)...anyways she told me to check into it and i was just curious if anyone has used it or knows anyone who has and how much do you/they like it?....im not that much into taking pills every night but of course im kinda worried about getting a rod in my arm...now i went to the website and it says that it is effective for 3 years and if you decide to become pregnant before the 3 years is up all they have to do is make a small incision in your arm to remove it and its possible to become pregnant within days of removal...so besides having to have a small incision everything else doesnt sound too bad but i dont know...what do you all think? please help ! sooner i can get on good birth control the better lol! anyways thanks!

I haven't ever had the implant, but I have heard mostly good things about it, except sometimes the site where it is implanted can be sore. My niece had hers removed because of constant pain in her arm.

Thanks for posting...im still trying to figure out what i want to do....im honestly scared of having to have a small incision in my arm to remove that implant but also i want something that will be good...and wont make me soo hormonal !....but then again my hubby is probably joining the air force soon so maybe i'll just stay on the pill (since when he is gone im not gonna get pregnant lol)...anyways thanks again! oh and lawlady...honestly i dont think i would want an IUD....

I love my IUD. I've had it almost a year now. Best birth control I've ever used, really. I have the Mirena, which does have hormones. I'm surprised your doctor didnt' suggest it, actually, because it's supposedly one of the best forms of birth control for b___stfeeding moms. I have a friend who had some kind of implant, but I'm not sure what it was. It was a couple years ago and I think she liked it fine. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you. ~spam

I've decided to go with the mini-pill. I'm a little worried b/c my ob said it must be taken at the exact time everyday b/c it is not as forgiving as the regular pill but if your dh ig going to be gone for a while that is probably not too big a deal for you.
