how long should you wait to start exercising after delivery?

I started to gentle excersises like walking with my boys the day after I got out of the hospital. Not far, mind you and it was summer. If you want to start doing regular work-outs (ie. tea bo, aerobics, ect.) you should get your doctors okay. And if you start bleeding or feeling uncomfortable after that you are over-doing it. That was my doctors orders, anyway. Good luck.

I wanted to start doing the ab-lounge. I am three weeks post partum. I have been taking short walks but would like to start working on this flabby tummy. I feel great and my bleeding is down to very light and only comes every other day. I will probably give my doctor a walk but I was just curious as to what other people were doing.

I started taking short walks about 3 weeks after delivery. At about 8 weeks postpartum I started going to aerobic and dance cla__ses. I had to modify some things and be patient but it was only a few months after that that I felt like myself again.

I started doing weights 2.5 wks after delivery, and I have to tell you, I'm glad I did! I had a cesarian, so I still can't really do any cardio, but I'm planning to start after my 6 wk appointment - I just want to get the OK from my doc. that the wound is healing well, etc. If I had had a 'regular' birth, I would definitely be doing cardio by now!
