they gave it to me MONTHS ago in order to thin out the lining of my uterus in preparation for tubal blockage (ESSURE). anyway, i have been bleeding ever since, its sooo horrible, and the doc said that there is no telling when the bleeding will stop. i think you usually get another shot every 3 months but i didn't b/c my tubes are block plus why would i get another shot if it just makes me bleed? for those of you who've had the shot, if you bled, how long did you bleed for? the bleeding isn't heavy, it's very light, and i can wear light flow tampons or panty liners, but it's still a pain! i haven't had a period but just this constant light bleeding. i hate this.

I took the depo after my 1st dd about 7 years ago. i will never take it again. i had one shot and I spotted the whole time! I couldn't have s_x with my hubby, I was moody, I gained weight (20lbs in 2 months!) and I felt soo depressed. I had one more shot because Dr. said it'll take a couple months for body to adapt and for bleeding to stop, I never took another shot after the 2nd one. I couldn't stand the depressed feelings I was getting and the unexpected spotting every 2 weeks. I don't recommend depo to anyone.

And it takes a few months to get out of your system too, sometimes up to 2 years depending on how long you were on it. It only took me 3 months to get my periods back to normal after having only 2 shots.
