I am having my 3rd baby in July and considered a tubal and I think I'd rather have an IUD - can anyone tell me their experiences with that device? Thanks

I would also like to know about experiences with an IUD. I got pregnant by accident and I would like at least a year to recover before having another one.

I've had the Mirena IUD for 3 years. I had it placed after having my first and last child. I can't sing the praises loud enough. Some heavy bleeding the first six months, but I have been period free for over a year, and I have been able to loose weight.

Phaded Goddess - thank you so much - the only reason I want an IUD instead of tubal is to avoid periods all together that would be great.

I got the copper IUD. I can't do the hormone thing so the copper was about my only option. This is my second (one after my son, one after my dd) and Although I do get my period they are only 3-4 days long. Very heavy, but short. I had extra cramping the first couple of months with the first one, but now I forget I even have it. It is great. And I have never gotten pregnant with either one.
