Braxton Hicks From Exercising

Hi everyone! I am about 23 weeks along and have been walking daily throughout my pregnancy. However, this week, during my walks, my stomach got uncomfortably tight and wouldn't relax for quite some time after which I now know are Braxton Hicks contractions. I'm fine until I start walking! I don't know if I should quit walking or if they really are as harmless as everyone says? I'll call my doc tomorrow but I was just curious if this has happened to anyone?

Shae-lynn: I'm 31 1/2 weeks and have noticed in the last 2 weeks that I am getting a ton of Braxton-Hicks when I exercise. They aren't painful but it can be pretty uncomfortable b/c of the tightness. Did you ever speak to your doctor about it? I have an appt. tomorrow and I'm going to ask but just wondering if you got an answer.

Shae-Lynn - are you the same Shae-Lynn that used to post on the miscarriage forum? If so, hello! This is the Kim from the "Going for ____ Babies" threads. :-) That is a really good question you're asking and I'm curious to know the answer as well, though I have a ways to go. I am 12.5 weeks pregnant with my third after two miscarriages last year. If you are interested, we gals on the going for threads started a "Reunion" thread for all of us who were there at the beginning. I'm sure the girls WOULD LOVE to hear how you're doing! You're 23 weeks already, amazing! Congratulations and hope the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing. :-)

I am just about 36 weeks pregnant, and have been experiencing this since somewhere around 20-25 weeks too. When I asked my doctor about it, she said I should slow down when that happens and not push it. Well, I felt like I couldn't go much slower anyway, so I really haven't walked much. It's very frustrating because walking has only gotten more painful since then! I hate to say it, but hopefully it won't be the same way for you.

Hi! Thank SJ and Karen for your words of advice! I have been slowing my walking pace down and it seems to have helped. Hi KIM! Yes, it's me, the same Shae-lynn! Congrats on your pregnancy! That is so exciting!! I will drop by the reunion thread soon! Take care. I would love to share pregnancy stories!
