Can You Do Sit Ups When Your Pregant

I think you can in the first trimester, but I would not do it once your belly starts growing. Not only will it be uncomforitable the larger your belly gets, but it kindof counteracts what your stomach muscles are trying to do. They have to stretch and move a certain way to make room for the uterus. If you are doing allot of sit-ups, you are tightening them back up, and will probably put strain on them. Also, you are not supposed to lay flat on your back after a certain point in pregnancy (maybe like 20 weeks or so) b/c it can cut off blood flow.

You can do them like you regularly would during the first trimester. After that, you can still do them, you just have to modify positions. You can't lie flat on your back , but you can use a ball to do them. Try going to www.babyfit.com they have a lot of different exercises that are safe to do on there, and pics to show how to do them.
