... to regain the energy to get back to the regular work out schedule? I have been a gym go-er for years and still plan to do that (with a safe pace) during my pregnancy. I just want to know (in general), how much time is enough? Thanks for sharing your thoghts!

Depends on what kind of birth you have. If you have an uncomplicated birth, it would be earlier than with a Caesarian, which is basically major abdominal surgery. You will have a 6-week appointment with your doctor after the birth, where you can discuss this. At this point, the doctor checks you to make sure you healed okay. Then, I think you can start your workout. Right after the birth, you will have lost a lot of blood and be weak from the exertion of labor. It wasn't until six weeks that I was even lucid, what with the nighttime feedings, extra energy needed for b___stfeeding, whole world being changed.
This pregnancy, I am exercising throughout. After having gotten in shape before conceiving, I want to maintain my muscles for keeping up with my toddler while pregnant, and a faster recovery after pregnancy.
Good for you for exercising. I think it will make your birth and recovery better.
