How Much Work Is Too Much

I am 36 weeks along and have always been active with horses. I dont ride, have only ridden twice the whole pregnancy (which wasnt easy) but I still love to go out and groom and lunge and all the other fun stuff. But recently some of the other folks at the stables have been getting on to me about being "extra careful" because I've still been cleaning out the stall daily. They worry that lugging around wheelbarrels and shavings is getting to be too much. I admit its harder than it used to be, but I dont want to stop. I've never liked not being able to do something, or having to ask for help. I've already got my husband lifting bales of hay for me, and feeding when I feel too tired to go out. How much should I give up?

My doc said that as long as I didn't lift anything heavy, I could feasibly work until I went into labor.......unfortunatly my boss had other ideas. They had me take my tepm leave starting in Oct., cuz they didn't want me to slip in the shop. The area I worked in was covered in water and fine silt, and was slippery at times, and I understood that they wanted the best for me, so I left with no complaints. I really miss working, staying at home all day is sooooo boring......but they said I could come back after Kayla's born. Sorry, I kinda got off topic..........I'd say just keep doing whatever you want, as long as you feel up to it. I would think that the other folks would be more concerned about the actual shoveling, since there's more potential of hurting yourself during that activity, than the other things. But yeah, if you're not hurting yourself, do whatever you want!

I think it depends on what you are accustomed to. I was 6 mos pregnant in height of summer and helped unload 75 bales of hay. And i mucked 5 stalls until the day i went into labor. (Also rode the whole way thru.) In my case, i knew when I was overdoing it b/c I'd get a st_tch in my side (and I usually got it when loading bedding into a wheelbarrow. go figure). I delivered a healthy baby boy. People thought I was crazy, and doing too much, but I think it helped me have a very easy pregnancy. I gained the normal weight (about 28 lbs) yet stayed very small thru out.
