Before I got pregnant, I would love running and taking cla__ses at my gym, now I'm afraid to b/c when I asked the nurse at my doctor's office, she said not to "work up a sweat too much" and "not get my heart rate too high," well, what does that mean? I think so long as your heart rate doesn't go above 130-140 beats per minute, you're OK. I have been walking a lot..it works up just enough of a sweat, but doesn't get my heart rate too high...I have also heard that yoga is good, if you're into that sort of thing. There's also pregnancy videos. When you call your OB to set up your first appt, I would ask to speak to a nurse (if they don't make you anyway) and ask what they reccomend. Also, if you have a membership to a gym, you can ask a personal trainer...they are huge resorces. I hope I helped!!

I am 37 weeks pregnant, I have continued running, elipitical, weight lifting, swimming, ab workouts and my heartrate gets well over 140 BPM and I sweat. I was told as long as I feel good and don't get sick, tired, or dizzy then it's fine. BUT you have to stay at whatever fitness level you were at when you got pregnant, now is not the time to start working out vigorously if you haven't been doing it beforehand.

I'm in the same boat as momma3tobe. I also woked out vigorously before and continue to do so now. I did w/my first pregnancy (had earliest contractions on due date while on the eliptical at gym!). I"m now 28 wks w/2nd and am convinced that keeping w/my regular workout plan made both pregnancies easier. It really is a matter of what you're used to.

You can do any workouts. My docter told me that as long as im not putting myself in a situation where I can very easily trip and fall than ill be alright. I asked her about running because ive always enjoyed running and she told me running is perfectly fine, just as long as I dont fall down lol. Ive been running and everything is fine!

I also believe that if you keep up with your workout routine than itll just be that much easier to go back to pre-pregnancy weight/body than if you were to completly stop working out.

I do a lot of swimming and i feel great I do some walking and stretching as it helps with my leg cramps. I saw my Dr. last friday and myself and my baby are doing fine. I guess the best thing is to do what u used to before and be cautious.

you can do yoga, i find that it really helps to stretch your body out , while still getting a work out. they even have certain cla__ses for pregnant women. i personally really love yoga, because i have a misaligned knee cap and cannot run well even when not pregnant!

Im only 7 weeks and I feel like I've gained enough weight for my whole first trimester. Im eating so good.....exercising and drinking tonz of water (making lots of trips to the bathroom). All I feel is FAT,FAT,FAT!!!! Im 5"4 and was 120 pds, now Im pushing 124 and that weight was put on in a week in a half time. I already have a belly going on, whats up with that? I do have to say that I was on clomid and do have chances of mutliple babies. Won't find out till my first ultrasound on the 27th. I know I can't starve myself but what can I do to stop my weight gain? Would this be the norm if I have twins? Can I do some stomach exercises to firm all this sudden flab?

joely, sorry but you can't do much. :) Some people put on lots of weight early on and end up evening out later. I gained 60+ pounds with my daughter - and started at 120. A lot of times, the thinner you are the more weight you will gain because you need more body fat. Sounds like you are eating fine though! Also, stomach exercises are OUT. I'm also about 6 weeks pregnant with my second.

Joely-I am having the same situation as you. I try not to focus on my weight, so I have not been on a scale n over a year, but i guess that i am about 125, or at least i was. I will be 7 weks tomorrow and i feel like i ave already gained wieght in my stomach. I also feel like i have love handles and my b___t is getting bigger already. I took clomid and i keep wondering if this could mean that it is twins. I have not heard anything about these two things being related, but it made sense to me:)
