Hello, my question is this.....say I wanted to walk for 30 mins every day..would it be okay to break this up into 3 increments or should it be done all at once..I am almost 28 wks and it is so hot outside so I have decided to walk inside on the treadmill, the treadmill is kind of inclined but after only 10 mins I am in sweat! So I what I need to know is this...will it be just as beneficial to walk those 30 mins regardless if it is consecuitive or broken up into 3 increments throughout the day? Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated~Thanks in advance

I always walk at night when I get off work. I also have a treadmill, but think the fresh air is better. It's okay to sweat just dont over do it. My neighborhood is all up hill so maybe I'm used to it. Go at a slower pace and drink lots of water, but I would do the 30 min all at once. Broken up in 3 incrememnts a day seems kinda pointless because its only 30 min.

As long as you do something that's great! Try walking in the mall or somewhere with AC...Just keep at it...it makes labor so much easier!!!!!!!!!!

it's fine to break it up. You can sweat, though. As long as your heartrate doesn't exceed 140, you can do pretty much anything, my dr told me. (Other than laying on your back, of course.)

It is just as beneficial to walk 10 min 3 times a day as it is to walk 30 minutes all at once. Good for you!!

I hope that I am still able to walk for 30 min a day when I get to 28 weeks. WELL DONE. My doctor has recomended that I do what you are doing when 1 30min walk becomes to much for me, he says that it is worth wile because it prevents cramps, helps blood circulation and later on helps the baby get into birthing position. Also it is important to remember that you are carring alot more weight so you have much more resistance when walking so a short 10 min walk can get you heart rate up as fast as a 30min walk did in the early weeks.

I used to walk for a couple of hours everyday before I had my son and labour went sooo well..my first baby only took 4 hours. You should walk 30 mins at once because that way your body is working out and breaking it up wont do much.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, breaking your daily excercise up into 10 minute increments is just as effective for promoting health as doing it all at once. If you were trying to burn fat, this may not be the case, but since you are excercising to maintain health and not trying to lose weight, breaking it up into ten minute is a great idea. Keep up the good work!
