HI just thought I would let you know that I am being good and walking 4-5 times a week for at least 1/2 an hour ( and hate it ) here is some of the self talk i use to get motivated thought it may help. I tell myself each time I walk
1) I am doing this to keep fit
2) to keep my bum and legs toned
3) for oxygen ( heart health)
4) to prepair for labour and delivery, the fitter the better
5) even if I do put on too much weight it would be worse if I did not walk ( in the long run)
6) Because it is something to do, I get board and lonely
7) so I run after my baby and son
Well I am feeling guilty now so I will get off my but, turn the computer off and go for a walk.
How do you stay motivated to eat right and exersise????

Hello, I am preg w/ my 3rd and I walked throughout my second preg and this might get u motivated, but on my 2nd preg i walked 2miles at least 3-4 times a wk, and my labor was for only 4 hrs and i lost all of my weight w/in 6-8mo, I also continued my wlking after the baby was born, and i am now preg again and I am still wlking. To me it is therapy, exercise, gives me energy and helps w/ labor. It also makes my preg go by faster, with my 1st preg i was in labor for 6 hrs and i didn't wlk but I soon found that i had to loose the weight so i became a walker and haven't stopped since, that was over 4 yrs ago, so good-luck on your walking and keep up the good wrk!!!!

Thanks Moe, Glad to hear that you are walking too. You are doing well 2miles is great. Last year I was 4 sizes bigger and felt so fat, so I took up walking, I lost all the weight and felt so good. It was wonderful fitting into small sizes. Then I got pregnant ( planed) and I was so worried that it would all come back on again. I am so glad I have continued to walk, I have put on a bit around my but and lower back , but know that it could be 20times worse.
My first labour 2 stage was real fast as well just under 4 hours, I was not walking at the time but worked standing up all day. I hope labour and birth go as well but not too much faster I may not make it there in time.
Good luck for your labour and walking.

Hey Karen I am now about 16-17 wks and I just started walking again over 3 weeks ago, I had morning sickness and you know went through the tired stage and I couldn't make myself walk. But with my second preg I walked all the way up to 9 mnths, my last month i would slack a little and only wlk twice a wk, but it's hard wlking carrying all that extra weight. It helped control my weight alot, and it will help you too! They say walk at least 3-4 times a wk and thats what I go by but they also say walk 30 min a day and that really good if you can do that.
Noami just keep walking while your preg and after you recover from your birth and you should lose all of your weight plus some, I also b___stfed my second one and it helped melt away that fat, when your wlking and b___stfeeding theres no way you can't loose the weight just only eat when your hungry, good-luck ladies and let me know about your walking and we can keep eachother motivated!!

Hey gals. That's really motivating to hear how walking eases labor and delivery. =) Prior to pregnancy, I ran 12 miles a week...so I was a health nut to begin with. Once I found out I was pregnant, I stopped exercising during the 1st trimester because fatigue sets in and it's harder to get motivated. Once the 2nd trimester kicked in, I began exercising (e.g. jogging & walking) again. I'm now 32 weeks along and I'm still walking 3-4 times a week for 50 mins each time. I sure hope come labor time, the exercises will pay off! Keep exercising girls!!! =)

Hi Lazy,Moe,Karen and Jane
I have just seen the doctor and told him I was still walking 4 times a week for around 40mins . He said that that was fine but to be aware that after 27 weeks I need to be putting on 500grams a week, so I may need to cut back a bit if the weight gain is less than that. I have done well this week 3 walks so far. I tried a pair of tiny jeans on that I used to fit and I was able to pull them up over my thighs and b___t ( I felt good all day) This walking is so worth it.
Keep in touch.

HI Swan, I get pains too, after about 15 mins of walking in the lower right abdomin. I slow the pace down a bit and the pain normaly goes away after 5 mins. I am sorry to hear that you are getting pain as well . I think 1/2 hour walking is great, perhaps 1hour was a bit too much for you anyway.
I know that there are belts avalible for women who get a lot of pain in the tummy, they help lift the baby off the wrong spots ( worth asking about)
Hope all goes well

Hi all, (29 weeks) and still walking, I have cut down to 30 mins 4times a week. I hope to keep it up till at least 36 weeks. Glad to hear you are still walking Moe, I find that I feel more in control of it all when I walk. I don't know how I am going to cope with not walking for a few weeks after my baby is born. Once I stop it is so hard to start again. I hope you are all doing well.
