Hello Ladies... I am 12 weeks along. At my last appointment 2 weeks ago my OB said I had lost 2 pounds. I have been suffering from severe morning sickness and throwing up daily. (Luckily that has stopped during the last week and a half). She put me on a prenatal with vitm. B6.. and that has realy seemed to help. I stepped on the scale and it looks like I have gain 4 pounds in the past two weeks. During the holiday season I always gain a few pounds but now that I am pregnant I am really nervous about weight gain. I am 5'3 and about 150.. so I am about 5 pounds "overweight" according to most websites ... I am so nervous about gaining too much weight. Anyone else in the same boat. My whole body image has changed and even though I haven't really gained too much weight I already feel bigger.. and considering this is my 1st baby.. I am not really showing.. so I just feel FAT! and with everything I read about weight gain they say I should only gain between 15-25 pounds... which I have a feeling I will gain far more!! and that scares me too.. Considering I am only 5'3 .. if I gain say 30 pounds that will put me at like 180!! and I am so scared of that number!! It seems so heavy!!! Am I beng crazy or are there others out there who fear the same thing?!? I could really use someone elses opinion.... my husband says I look great.. BUT of course he would say that!!! HELP!!! any opinions or stories would really help!

I know how you feel, I am 5'2 and was 135lbs when I found I was pregnant and now I am 145lbs! I am only 7 weeks so it really hit me hard. I workout and try to eat right and that's the best I can do... you can't try to lose weight, just hang in there it'll all be worth it in the end!

I'm glad that I am not the only one. I am 5'5 and was 130-135 pre pregnancy and now at 12 weeks I am 145!!! The doc told me to try to be more careful. At this rate I will be 180 by the time I am ready to deliver.

I'm 5'2", 17 weeks pregnant and have gained 10 pounds so far. I was 125 prior to my pregnancy and now I'm 135. I see most of us are fairly pet_te-average in height so we can't carry too much extra. I just joined the YMCA to make sure I am doing some light cardio at least 4 days a week. They even have pregnancy yoga cla__ses.

IM 5'3 and started in at 125 also. I'm up to 145 and I'm 30 weeks. Dr. is okay with my weight gain, but much like you girls, I feel like a horse. I think we haev to realize that we "look" likle we've gained more, because we are "lower to the ground" if you will... Many of us will have short upper bodies, so we just look round. I like to think of myself as a "meatball" for right now... If you can hack it, walk for 20 mins every other day, just to keep things toned, so it will be easier to "take off"... But better yet, just be happy and prego!!

I am 5'4 and 133 and I just figure I will try to eat the right foods (ie: fruits, veggies, lean meats and whole grains) and continue walking 30 minutes 4 times a week. I figure that if I gain a lot of weight it will be ok because I will be healthy and in decent shape to take it off when I am done. I started a food diary as well, so I can check in with the doc to make sure I am on track with the right nutrition. I read that you are suppose to take in 2200 kcal when you are pg, but check with your doc.

I'm 5'4. Pre-pregnancy I was 158 pounds. In the first 8 weeks, I put on 13 pounds, and I freaked out, thinking "Am I going to put on 13 pounds every two months?!?!" And I was reading everywhere about how many women don't put on ANY weight in the first trimester, especially if, like Sara0910, they've had morning sickness badly. But the next 8 weeks, I only put on 2.5 pounds. So I guess things even themselves out in the end!

hi all - i am also a bit worried about too much weight gain early on. i am 5'3", pre-pregnancy weight was 120. before i knew i was pregnant, i was a bit concerned about the fact that i was gaining weight without having changed my diet, but attributed it to my age (44) and changing metabolism. so when i found out i was pregnant, in my 7th week, i had already gained 8 lbs! i generally don't eat much junk, am trying to eat even more healthy and get out on my bike a bit on the weekends. i'm now in my 11th week and weight this week is inching up another pound. it's relatively early on, and already most of my pants and skirts don't fit. i guess i am hoping that things will stabilize.... but only time will tell!
