is it safe to do crunches and other ab exercises when pregnant? I am 5 months pregnant

My doctor said no. I love to do Pilates and have had to change to Yoga.

i wouldnt think so because of all the stomach muscles your using. i believe it would actually hurt the baby and make you very uncomfortable afterwords

I actually did crunches but did them about half way and gently. I also did standing leg lifts and pelvic lifts and tilts. I did these exercises along w/ pilates and yoga and walking through out the pregnancy. Everything went fine. I am 10 days post partum now and my stomach is almost flatter than before I got pregnant. You just have to listen to your body.

Hi, girls. I have just been diagnosed with pubis symphisis dysfunction and my physio has given me deep abdominal excercises to do to help strengthen the muscles in my pelvis. She says it wont do the baby any harm and will help after birth too. I am a bit unconvinced though
