These electronic muscle stimulators have been shown to be completely ineffective for any weight loss or health regimen. Why are you thinking of using it? If you want to stay healthy and control your weight gain during pregnancy, there are no tricks or easy ways out - you need to eat healthy and maintain a moderate level of excercise. Although I have not heard anything to suggest that using an electronic muscle stimulator is bad, this may be due to the fact that they are not taken at all seriously in the medical field, and therefore are not considered worthy of research.

I have seen some reserch and use of these devices for relieving muscle pain and labor pain. The research and use is primarily UK based but some American researchers HAVE indeed found it "worthy of research." Try a search for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation or TENS they have been found safe for use during pregnancy and for some people they have been effective in relieving back labor pains.
