Hi all, Before I became pregnant I weighed 107.8 pounds, now I weigh 143 at 25 weeks!! According to the weight gain calculator, I should weigh around 124 to 129. Would it be safe for me to attempt to lose some weight? I eat though I'm not even hungary at all because I"m afraid of starving my baby. My behind is 10 times larger than my stomach. lol Anyone in the same boat?

You don't have to eat a LOT to eat right. Take nutritionally dense food, like oatmeal, soup, a garden salad, any colorful tropical fruits, etc. These will keep you in good health yet not load you up weight-wise. The baby needs vitamins and minerals, not necessarily bulk. If you eat a lot of crackers, rice, or bread you will just gain weight and little else. Hope this helps. PS: Also keep taking vitamin supplements.

You started at a low weight, and they say that if you start at a low weight often you gain more than others.. - If your doctor says your healthy, I wouldn't worry . Just try your best to eat healthy and drink lots of water. Don't try and lose weight till after you give birth ... it's not good for you or the baby if you try and diet. :)

Unfortunately, we preggos can't "save up" pounds to count for later in our pregnancies. Babies need continuous caloric intake to be healthy, which means that even if you gain too much weight at a certain point in your pregnancy, you still must keep gaining the appropriate monthly weight (average is 1 lb. per week in the second and third trimesters, but check with your doctor for your own specific needs). If you decide to try and lose weight now, you will do to your baby exactly what you were trying NOT to do by eating too much: starve her. The best way to ensure that you return to your prepregnancy weight quickly is to excercise regularly and eat healthy foods (b___stfeeding also helps too!). But don't worry about it! I don't even have to see you to know that you are beautiful because you are creating a new life! Just keep that baby fed, and you will both be healthier and happier in the long run. Best of luck!

Sorry but now is not a time that you can diet, because your baby can not survive on your fat stores it neads fresh food every day so that it can grow. Do not stress about the weight you have already put on there is not much you can do about that now.
If you start walking and eat well you should be able to only gain the recomended weight each month it is about 500grams a week from 26weeks ( not sure of the pounds)
During my first pregnancy I ate for two and ended up looking like two after the birth and for 5 years after that. Just think every healthy walk or meal will save you from the extra weight that could have been if you did not at least give it a go. I am following a healthy meals paln from a book ( What to eat when you are expecting) I never feel hungry, it was hard to stop eating sugar and white flour but I am so glad I did.

Hi!
This isn't the right time to diet. Pregnancy doesn't mean u have to keep eating to nourish ur little one. Ur little one needs only few calories more than what u normally eat. So stop eating continuosly. Eat as u used so with a slight increase in fruits and vegetables intake. Adding on weight is not a problem at all means loosing them after the pregnancy MATTERS really!

do not try to diet. Just keep on eating normally. Everyone is different. People may grow humongous and gain a lot of wieght, like me, or they may just look pretty small. When i was pregnant, i started at 102 and ended up wieghing 176. Haha. I was huge.

Recently I read an article that malnourishment during pregnancy has been shown to lead to schizophrenia in the child. I find this interesting because my great aunt was schizophrenic, and she was born during the great depression when her mom didn't get hardly anything to eat. That being said, I'm in favor of eating too much vs. too little. However, I gained a lot during my pregnancy because I was always starving - turns out he probably needed it because he was only 6lbs. 10 oz. full term. Looking back I wish I hadn't had some much fruit juice and soda - could have saved a lot of calories! Just try not to go overboard and try not to worry too much. It is better to overnourish and undernourish.

Oh my God! I totally understand. Before I got preg. I was hovering around 125 I am 5'6.
On my first visit to the dr. @ weeks I weighed 132. Now at 18 weeks I am 147. I feel huge, have gained a few inches in my hips...my b___t seems ma__sive...I was out of my pre-preg. jeans at around 10 weeks. I attempted to put them on the otherday. It was a total joke. I have not found maternity clothes that I feel comfortable in. Would prob. feel good in empire waist dresses (anybody have any recom.)
Just feeling awful and embara__sed to see people. I live in Los Angeles and everyone is like a size 0-2. Those days seem so long gone for me...just feel like a house and isolating...I think I am driving my friends and family nuts...they feel that I should just be thrilled to be pregnant. I am so so excited...but am having a lot of trouble with my self esteem...can anyone relate...anyone have tips on how to avoid a misery pig-out.
thank you so much for any help

Try not to think about the weight you put on, just think about taking care of yourself and the baby. This should be the best time of your life. I had a hard time dealing with the weight at first because i was not used to gaining weight. I weighted 120 when i first found out i was pregnant. I'm 24 weeks now and weight about 138. Its normal to gain weight, your having a baby!! Try not to worry. After the baby is born, try to eat right and go to the gym..that's what i'll be doing!!

I just want to make you feel better. When I was pregnant with my son, I gained 70 pounds. It all went away and I have been back in my size 4 jeans for quite some time now. I also have just as many stretch marks on my backside as I do on my tummy. This is totally normal. Eat when you are hungry and you will be fine. The baby gets all it's nutrients from your body so when you eat, you are really just replenishing your stores. Don't get in the habit of eating when you don't want to, though. It's not good for you. I ate, well, because I really, REALLY wanted to! I told my OB that my diet plan was "if it doesn't run away, eat it!" And I did! Enjoy!

Oh, by the way, to those suffering from any kind of self-esteem/depression, I highly reccommend "The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicky Iovine. Write it down and trundle on down to Barnes and Noble and buy it!!! You may find yourself reading it when you are not pregnant because it is so darned funny. The point she made that I loved was that you might as well enjoy being able to eat everything cause no matter how much you gain, it all has to come off eventually. No matter how much weight she gained with each pregnancy (she had 4) it still took her the same amount of time to lose it again. Whether it was 35 lbs or 85 lbs. Think: 9 months on, 9 months off.
Cheers!

Just try to eat right but don't deny your cravings. Drink lots of water too. I started at 122.5 and 5'3 (after losing 25 lbs. right before I got pregnant) and now at 33 weeks at 181, However I am all belly and the doctor said I am perfectly healthy, no problems. Do not diet, do it after the baby and raise him or her with the good eating habits you will then have.
