I just found out I am pregnant. I have been going to the gym regurarly about 3-4 times a week. I take a BTS fitnes class, which is a weighlifting class for an hour it focuses on each part of your body. My question is this safe to do and also what exercises should I be doing. I also do cardio on an eliptical machine and treadmill??
Is it safe to continue all of this?

You really shouldn't need to change up your routine for awhile. My doctor gave me a 40pound restriction for weight training but there is no evidence or reason for this limit. Once you get into the second trimester you will want to watch what you do on your back like abs, bench press, etc. Cardio is great also. Drink plenty of water and don't get too overheated. There is talk about a 140 heart rate to stay under---again, no real reason for this number. As long as you don't do anything anaerobic for very long, you are fine. Just listen to your body, it will thank you later during labor.

My doctor said not to do any weight lifting, but every doctor is different. I would think that you should not do exercise that is not comfortable for you. As Haydensmom said, your body will let you know if you're overdoing your exercise. My doctor also suggested that I don't do any exercise until I was closer to my 2nd trimester. Right now I'm in my 3rd trimester and I've been hitting the eliptical for about 20 minutes a day (5 days per week) since the very beginning of my 2nd trimester.
