For those who already have had children, what is a good method for losing post pregnancy weight. I use to weigh about 135 lbs and when I had my baby I was 201 lbs. I'm not sure how much I weigh right now, maybe 160-180. It's been almost 6 weeks since I gave birth. I have always had low self esteem and I really hate the way I look. I feel so fat ugly unattractive and disgusting. I don't look at myself nude and I can't even bear to have my boyfriend see me naked. I want to lose weight as fast as possible. I was wondering how you lost your weight, how long it took, and how you felt about yourself before you lost the weight. I would be a much happier person If I could get back to my old weight.

I know how you feel. With my first, I was a happy 135 and I got to 214, after I had my son I dropped to 190 and I work out and watch what I eat, sometimes I feel like I am starving, and I haven't dropped below 179. But now I found out that I am pregnant again and I am scared that I am going to put on weight again. I know how you feel.....

i found for me, pilates and running stairs worked best. both don't take much time to get a good work-out, and they show results. pilates is good for your belly, and stairs works your legs and b___t, which is where i gain my weight. gotta love those female genes!!!!

It's good to know that I'm not alone. It's been 2 and 1/2 weeks since I gave birth - I too started out at 135 and got up to about 198. Now I weight 173 but I feel so huge and gross. I've been on the chunky side before, but I was proportioned much better then. I went shopping yesterday and thought that I could realistically fit into a 13, but even that I had to stuff myself into, which is really depressing because I used to be a 7. Even though I'm not really losing weight, I have been slowly losing inches by doing some pilates. I hate exercise, but I'm pretty sure that diet alone isn't going to do the trick this time. One thing though - give your boyfriend a chance, because he will most likely think you look beautiful naked if he's been there all along. Even though I think I look gross, it is a huge help to know that my husband thinks I look great - so give him a chance to tell you. Hang in there!

Liz, you are NOT alone. My son is 10 weeks old. Everyone told me my weight would just fall off so when it didn't I was super depressed! But I turned that into motivitation. I drink Slim-fast for breakfast. Salad and sandwitch for lunch and if I'm still hungary about 3:00 I'll have one of those 100 calorie snack packs then go to pilates cla__s twice a week and walk on my treadmill! This weight is comming off sister. But it sure didn't fall off. You gotta be health and take care of yourself. I eat really, really good during the week and reward myself and my family for putting up with me by making a big nice meal on the weekends. Good luck! You can do it.

Don't be too depressed. I too was 135 before my first pregnancy (I'm pregnant again) and I weighed 196 before birth. I hated myself especially since my baby's daddy gave me a book on how fat mom's lose weight after pregnancy! So you can imagine how anxious I was to lose the weight. I started work 2 1/2 weeks after I had my baby so I wasn't able to b___stfeed to lose the weight either. Around the 5th month after I started walking 2 hours a day. I window shopped, I went on adventures (with my baby in a stroller) and I went from a size 12 to a size 4 in a month and 1/2! I also watched how much I was eating, the best part is that walking suppresses your appet_te so it was really easy. That's all I did. I ended up getting down to 120 lbs and looked way too thin, but I was addicted to walking. I started eating more and leveled off at 130 lbs. I'm not saying your weight lose will go like that but I am saying you will lose weight no matter what if you walk every day. It also gives you space to think and dream and gives your baby some fresh air. Don't worry about your boyfriend, I definitely dumped my baby's daddy and he tried for over 2 years to get back with me. Just enjoy being a mom and take care of yourself, that shows your man that you are something special and he'd better be on his guard not to lose you! You'll get there, I promise!!!!

Before my pregnancy I had never weighed more that 115 lbs. The last week before giving birth my weight was 169!! As soon as I got home I was on the scale....everyday! On the first day I was fit to run, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill.....I really want to lose the weight. Anyway, I about pa__sed out when I got off the treadmill. I'm doing well now. It's been 5 months and I'm down to 125.... lose 15 lbs. more and I'm happy! Breastfeeding does help!!! When I stop BF I'll use any supplement to help me burn the fat and get a flat tummy agian....that's my dream!! But yeah, I felt really fat and unattractive as well. If you're determined, you'll lose all the weight you want. Don't give up!

I put this on a different thread, so sorry if I'm repeating. I gained 70 pounds while I was pregnant. I signed up for a circuit training cla__s and that has worked great for me! I weigh 135 or so, am about 5' 8" and currently have 14% body fat. Cla__ses are good because they get you motivated and they are cheaper than joining a gym. Plus, they get you out of the house and it's nice to sweat and be miserable when you are doing next to a bunch of other women who totally feel your pain! Some days, we just complain and whine all the way through cla__s. It's really fun!!! And, it not only makes me feel better about my body, it makes me feel better about everything. Working out was how I got over postpartum depression. Oh, and you can pick up "The Girlfriend's Guide to Surviving the First Year" by Vicki Iovine. It has a chapter ent_tled "The Old Gray Mare, She Ain't What She Used To Be" that will make you pee, it's so funny. She's got loads of good advice though! Good luck!

question for you ladies......how fast did you put on the weight while pregnant, and did you start off overweight, normal, or underweight? I am 16 weeks, and have put on 7lbs. I know that most is still to come, but I am just curious about the weight gain.

Candice - December 19

Margaret, I can't remember how fast I put on the weight last time, I do remember I was wearing maternity clothes by the 3rd month, I gained probably 20 lbs!!! I am now 21 weeks with my second and I'm pretty sure I've gained 20-25 lbs! Just a little less than last time. I think you're going to be just fine and right in the margin for weight gain for the whole pregnancy!!! So just relax and enjoy yourself. In a couple of weeks your going to start to feel the baby move and you won't be thinking as much about the weight gain, but more about the activity going on inside and antisipating the baby's next movement.

Candice - December 19

Liz, I was wondering how the weight lost has been going for you? Keep in touch and let us know!!!!
