Trouble Gaining

I am 18 weeks pregnant and still have not gained anything. I eat all I want, but I am used to eating healthy foods. I can feel the baby moving, and my tummy is a little rounded. Should I be concerned about not gaining? I am 5'3" and 116 lbs.

What has your doc said? I've heard that if your having trouble gaining wait that you should eat your salad, veggies, and drink last (so that you don't get full before eating the other foods) and try to eat a lot of good fats such as nuts, fatty fish, food with olive oil, avocados, etc. I would be concerned about not having gained anything as baby should be adding some weight to your pounds during the 2nd trimester --this is the point in the pregnancy where you should be gaining most of your weight. I'd certainly call my doc and mention it to them. You should be able to eat healthy and still put on some weight, and there are some potential side effects to not gaining enough weight during a pregnancy. I know you said you eat all you want, but during pregnancy you can eat food even when your not actually feeling hungry and if your not gaining weight you may want to steep up the amount of food your eating. Again though I'd contact my doc. and see if/ how concerned they are with it. They may be able to check to make sure the baby is doing fine (growing/gaining weight as it should) and give you some ideas for gaining the weight you need to put on. Good luck

I went in for a check up on Monday, and had a sonogram done. The baby is fine and growing normally. However, I have been having a lot of bleeding problems during the whole pregnancy from antiphospholipid syndrome, so I don't know if that drains more from my system. This week my belly popped though, and I gained 2 lbs in just one week, so hopefully I'm starting to put on weight. I'm trying to eat more high calorie foods... Thanks for your input! This is my second pregnancy; I miscarried my first one at 13 weeks, so it's hard not to worry.
