How many weeks do I have to be to find out the s_x of my baby?

My doctor told me that from the 17th week - we can find out the gender of the baby. Now, I know that some people out there got to know it earlier.
I'm 19 weeks and we just found out yesterday :))

I was 19 weeks also. she was playing hard to get by sitting on her feet. We had to do the enternal ultrasound to find out. I hate those!
