Is Ultrasound Date Accurate

My last period started Feb 19 or 20, which puts me about 8.5 weeks (due Nov. 26). However, a qualified relative did an ultrasound and she is certain I am only 6 weeks plus a couple days. This would mean I conceived around March 20 as opposed to around March 6 as we thought. However, we got a positive pregnancy test on March 24. Would that even be possible? Could I have ovulated 2 weeks later than expected? Other than the first period after stopping b.c., I always have 26-28 d. cycles. Just curious. Hubby and I are happy to have seen the heartbeat but we are really confused by the discrepancies in the date. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've heard they can be +/- 2 weeks.. Nothing is for certain. I think they can tell more the further along you are.

From what I have been reading... and as I found on may sites is that the further you are along the harder it is to date. For example, the baby at a later rate will stop growing at such a rapid rate as in the first couple of weeks. The another way to find out is the size of the fetus is crown-rump length. The measurments will be larger if you are further along.
Hope this helps... !
