If women are pregnant for 9 months then why do they say people are pregnant for 40 weeks? Isnt that like 10 months? that confuses me.

Hi.... yes Im afraid a full term pregnancy is 40 weeks, or ten months to be exact. Are you pg or trying? The first few months fly by anyway so I wouldnt worry too much! xxx

Here is a clear answer: By the time you ovulate, your body is considered to be in week two. So even if you are no pregnant, the clock starts ticking as soon as you get your AF. That means when you miss AF, you would be at four weeks (not at one, which is a common misconception). So 9 months x 4 weeks = 36 weeks. Then you add the four weeks (since that is what you are at when you miss AF) and you get 40 weeks total :-)

you are pregnant (by your last menstrual period) 9 months and 1 week (from lmp to due date) exactly. Gestationally, its 8 months and 3 weeks. theres not just 4 weeks exactly in a month, (except feb) its four weeks and 2-3 days. So you end up gaining a week here and there. That is the exact answer. there is 56 weeks in a year, which would mean if all there was was 4 weeks in a month, then we would have 14 months in a year, but we dont- we have 12. I hope this clears things up
