We lost our baby yesterday at 7 weeks, the day after seeing a strong heartbeat. We have no idea why. Sent for a scan due to some spotting and told everything was OK. Got up the next morning bleeding heavily. Lost the baby in hospital 4 hours later. No scan was done during or after the miscarriage and no answers as to why I saw a heartbeat and then lost my baby 24 hours later. Still very gutted :(

I'm 11 wks & i've been paranoid about things going wrong too. i talked to my dr a few days ago and he said not to believe everything you read online. the miscarriage rate for the 1st trimester is 25%. however, if you actually hear the heartbeat it drops your chances of miscarriage to about 12%. and i've seen lots of things online that make you think you have up to a 80% chance to have a miscarriage. it's just always rea__suring to hear it from your dr that has actually examined you because EVERY pregnancy is diff so you really cant judge by what everyone else has went through.

Hey there. My name is Jordan and this is my first pregnancy. I am 11 weeks today and I have my home little heart doppler and I cannot hear the heartbeat at all. I am not worried because like yall say, it could still be a little early but I am still very nervous. I am also showing big time to only be 11 weeks...do any of you have any ideas as to why this could be?....

TeddiBear - I'm in the same boat as you. I started spotting and went in to the ER after about four days of it, was told my hCG level was excellent and the heartbeat on transv____al was 180, I was utterly shocked to see it there as I have had two mc in the past year. Then, still bleeding throughout, this past Tuesday morning I woke with major cramping and pa__sed a large clot. Another Wednesday thought the cramping has subsided. I have an appointment with my OB tomorrow morning and I am afraid they are going to refuse to do any follow up tests since the hospital said everything looked great. Everything is most certainly not great if there are clots and bleeding and cramps. Also thank you to everyone here who has shared the emotional desire for it to just hurry up and be over with. I felt like a horrible person for feeling that until I read it so many times here and on other boards. I don't necessarily want to have another mc, I just want to know what is happening and be able to feel the appropriate emotion and move on.

Hi Amy,

You can buy a doppler on Ebay for less than $40.00 and it's works just as well as my Dr,s. It's called a Sonoline B Pocket Fetal Doppler.

I was nervous also about miscarriage during my 1st trimester. But having my own fetal dopplerhas really made me rest easy. I can hear the babies heartbeat whenever I want. I ussually only check him on his weekly anniversary. or if I want to share with family or friends a live listen to the baby. It's really awesome.

Many blessings to you and your little bean!

Hi everyone,

I am shocked by how many people on here who have OB's who don't do an ultrasound in the 1st trimester. My OB office does an ultrasound between 8-12 weeks, at 20 weeks, and again at 36 weeks for everyone across the board. At the 12 week visit, if they can't hear the heartbeat on a doppler, they send you in for an ultrasound again (even if you've already had one) to make sure everything is developing normally and the heartbeat is strong. It gives me peace of mind, because I worry constantly. I am currently 9w6d on my 2nd pregnancy, and even though everything looks great, I still have to wait until after that 13 week mark to tell everyone because I want to make sure everything will be ok. My 1st pregnancy went perfect, considering I have a chronic hormonal condition that can cause some severe complications. I didn't even know I was pregnant with my 2nd until I was 8 weeks along. They had to do an ultrasound to figure out how far along I am. I wish everyone the best of luck on here, and if you are worried or can't hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks because it is too soon, push for an ultrasound for peace of mind!
