How Likely Is My Girlfriend To Miscarry

I'm pretty worried... My girlfriend is about 7 weeks 5 days along, as best we can figure. She hasn't had any prenatal care, other than taking some supplements and prenatal vitamins. She's got a rare disorder which causes her to be chronically deprived of potassium and magnesium, so she's always experiencing muscle pain, cramps, spasming, fatigue, etc. She's also been having some other assorted pains. She won't get an ultrasound because she's heard it might be dangerous for babies (some new study, apparently) and says that if she is going to miscarry, there's nothing they can do about it anyway, so it's pointless. Anyway, she's had some severe nausea (morning sickness) in the last couple of weeks, but it seems to have gotten better now. She was also in a car wreck last week (totaled my Focus, but she walked away with only bruises and minor burns from the airbag deploying. What worries me, though, is that she has been barely eating.... basically one meal a day for most of her pregnancy so far, and yesterday all she had was a measly grilled cheese sandwich. She hasn't been to a doctor yet because we don't have insurance and she's waiting until she goes home to her family's state, where she says the doctors are better, before she applies for medicaid. Anyway, am I just worrying too much, or are these very real risk factors for a miscarriage?

Hi DominusTec_m, my suggestion is to tell your girlfriend to apply for medicaid as soon as possible, I believe she can get it within two weeks. Most ob clinics dont see their patients until they are between 7-9 weeks pregnant anyway, so she will be right on target. My concern is that she needs to convey her medical issues right away so that they can develop the best prenatal plan possible for her. She should also be taking prenatal vitamins, they can be bought over the counter at any drug store. From everything you described, it sounds like she is doing well aside from the car attack, but if she hasnt had any bleeding since the accident, that is a good thing. But she needs to seek medical aide as soon as possible. An ultrasounds are not dangerous for babies, I've had at least 5 of them and I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant. Good luck :0)
