Am I Taking The Hpt Too Early

Sept 30th i had intercourse with my boyfriend, a day before i was supposed to start my period, i have since not started and ive taken a few hpt and all come out negative, since i would of only conceived about a week and a half ago is it too early to take the hpt? how long should i wait?
