Hey, this year I went through a terrible lost, I was in abusive relationship and I miscarried my twins at 19weeks, anyway found a new partner and I’m 2 weeks late, I went to the doctors for a blood test but they said my hormone levels aren’t high enough to say I’m pregnant, yet my mummy friends say you don’t know till between 4/7 weeks and it also says on the NHS website... my periods are always regular so this is very strange to be this late!  They’ve always been regular since I was ten when I started and now I’m 18 I should know my body! My stomach ( lower abdomen) is quite hard, my breasts are really sore and I am discharging a lot more recently! This is all the same when I was first pregnant in December last year! Any suggestions?

Hi Butterflies, sorry to hear of the bad relationshipp and miscarriage. A blood test is usually pretty accurate once you are late. Maybe the reading is above the "not pregnant" level but not yet at "pregnant for sure". Since the pregnancy hormone doubles every few days you could probably run a home test a week after the blood test and expect a correct answer.

Your signs are encouraging even though you don't mention unusual fatigue. The signs can also be caused by hormones upset by stuff such as an ovarian cyst. If the home test and your next period do not give an answer, it will be time to go back to the doctor.
